I am new here... just registered for some guidance for making a gaming PC

I need the PC to be able to do the following things:

Play lots of online multiplayer games... that requires a good FPS, Fast paced games... also HD games, and also fast HD games :p

Everything else I am not sure about.. but this is the moniter I want:

* ASUS VN247H 23" *

Not sure what else you guys need to know... I want good graphics and fast wireless, but please do not do anything overboard... I don't wanna be wasting money

I am looking at spending £1250, but if it takes another £250 to make gaming much better... then I am willing to pay

I am hope I am not being rude or anything... But I am sure some people get paid here to help out people like me

Anything else just ask :)

Do you need keyboard/mouse/sound?

Don't worry about wanting help, it's what this forum is for. No posters here (other than PCS staff) are paid.

As for the PC + Monitor: This would be an ideal spec for £1250. If you were up for paying another £250 then you could max all games out at good framerates, but the GTX 770 will do the job very well. It'll play most things on near max / max.

Yeah.. I will add a keyboard to it

I got the mouse

And don't need speakers there are some built into the ASUS VN247H monitor

I thank you very much for this TheKeir, I do not understand all the components of a computer and they pretty much confuse me, so I thank you for helping me choose what is best

I am hoping to buy this... and then not need a new Desktop for another 10 years :D

How noisy is this?... does this vibrate alot?.. I am on the top floor of my house, and this will be going on my floor (carpet)... or maybe I will get some special surface for this to be placed on, anyways anything else I could do to make this silent or vibrate less

Also with the homeplugs

There are options for homeplug or 2x homeplug

Is a homeplug just 1 homeplug.. or is it a set... I though they were supposed to be sold in sets, why would someone buy just 1

The noise will be fine. It won't make noise through the floor, and if you shut the door then I can almost guarantee no one else will hear. If you add a Fan Controller to the PC you can turn the fans up and down (making them slower makes the computer waaaaaaaaaay quieter), so you can get it *really* quiet when you don't need the fans to be running heavily.
I personally have my PC on a plank of wood on my carpet (I'm on the top floor as well) which is handy for several things, but vibrations shouldn't be a problem. I can turn my fans up to 100% and overload my PC and no one else will hear - providing that you're not using a terribly cooled AMD graphics card, you will be absolutely fine.

As for homeplugs: yes, you need a minimum of two. One connects to the router and one to your PC. They are sold on their own in case you already have a homeplug system set up and just want to add another PC to it.
You'll also need ethernet cables (one for each homeplug) if you haven't got those.

However by default that motherboard does not support 2400MHz RAM so will not run that fast anyways :)
Looking at the specs for that motherboard: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97_LE_R20/#specifications it can support 2133MHz RAM when the RAM is overclocked, less if not overclocked
So I'd say go for the 1600MHz RAM instead, since you're unlikely to see much difference between it and the 1600MHz for gaming purposes anyway.

admittedly not for gaming, you've got me there :whistling:

However, i believe faster RAM makes for more stable overclocking.

Just spitballing???

I am buying some homeplugs from elsewhere now :)

Do I really need this graphic card: 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 770 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready

I am probably paying more for the 3D... my monitor doesn't support 3D and I don't really want it, is there another graphic card that can do a great job for gaming... but isn't 3D, or isn't there really a price difference?

3d ready is an additional feature. The amd equivalent is the r9-280x, I wouldn't downgrade the gpu.

No, you are not paying any more for 3D, it's just an extra that's thrown in for those who want it. The GTX 770 is much more powerful than the GTX 760, and would allow you to play games on very high settings.

Alright.. looks like I am sorted then :), damn VAT, all comes to £1,358.00

Then another £85.80 for home plugs

Bye Bye money D:

I got it down to £1232.

Razer Deathstalker is a waste of money, it's just a normal keyboard with a Razer logo and some nice lighting. Its keys are normal and it offers no additional functions. Honestly you would hardly notice a difference if you downgraded to the Logitech K120.
I'd personally recommend the Steelseries QcK mousemat, but I'm sure Mad Catz's is fine too.
I would also go for the cheaper Logitech LS21 speakers. Having used them, I know they have very good sound quality.

And homeplugs should not cost you £85. If you just want them for your computer, a set of two will cost as low as £20 if you bought them from Amazon or somewhere.

That all comes to £1250 including homeplugs :)

Alright I changed the keyboard thanks for the tip

Keeping the speakers and mat

Will look into cheaper homeplugs
