Guidance on gaming desktop

Hi

I'm looking for some help on setting up a gaming desktop.

I'd like something thats capable of playing newer games on medium to high settings, streaming media (mainly Netflix) and handling multiple displays. I generally don't do any photo/video/media editing. I'd also like to setup a spec which has a certain amount of longevity to it

Games I'd be looking at currently would be Civ VI, Total War: Warhammer 2 (and the other newer total war titles), World of Warcraft, Football Manager, Planet Coaster, GTA V and other similar titles.

Hard budget is £1400 (with maybe a tenners wiggle room if too good to miss!) In terms of a setup, I've heard good things about having a small SSD as a boot drive, with a HDD for the rest of my rubbish!

Thanks in advance

Hal

It looks good.

For reasons I can guess at but can't really be bothered to type out, the GTX 1080 is currently only £29 more than a GTX 1070.

If you're going to buy a 1070 you might as well buy a 1080 for that money.

The spec looks good and well suited to what you want it for.

You could claw back £10 by going with the Titan CPU cooler, which is more than fine for a stock i5.

If you don't actually need the DVD drive, you can always ditch it.

That is great, thank you very much. I think I will go for the Titan cooler and the GTX 1080!

Thanks again Oussebon.

Not sure if you need it, but a WiFi card for about £10+ depending on what you choose would be good and installed by PCS with the drivers etc.
