Have you contacted PCS about this (phone/email)? You should still be under warranty after 8 months if you have a fault. The forums aren't an official channel of support, most people on here are just previous customers, although we will always do our best help if we can :)

Sounds like you tried everything to do with drivers, only other thing I can suggest is to maybe do a clean install of Windows, start a fresh, see what happens. Someone else may be able to give you some more constructive help/advice however. But definitely give PCS a call if you haven't already.

Have you tried using the Nvidia control panel to make sure it isnt using the intergrated GPU instead? (right click desktop >Nvidia control panal. Should be able to set what programs use what GPU there.

Sounds like a faulty GPU, just phone them and explain the situation, it will still be under warranty and you can organise an RMA if they can't troubleshoot it over the phone.

hi, i wonder if anyone could help me?

I have owned a p170em with a gtx 675mx gpu for about 8 months. The laptop has been really poor, low fps (<50 in Wow unless I am in the middle of nowhere on my own, <20 in LFR), nasty keyboard, noisy fans and display faults. I have a stand for it that sounds like a washing machine if you type too hard or nudge it even slightly - totally unusable therefore on yr lap and far from discreet.

Anyway, it got to the point where I have ordered a desktop replacement. However, that has made me a bit more experimental/ambitious in trying to fix some of the issues with the laptop.

I suspect that the laptop is using integrated gfx when i want it to use the gtx675mx. Well at least I hope so, given the fps i get. I had been using the latest nvidia drivers as they were released but the performance was still a shambles. I have tried to get the drivers (http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download/ftpout_download.asp?sno=5302&no=3) from Clevo's website but when I go to install them I get the nvidia 'cannot find compatible hardware' and the installation aborts. I have spent hours and hours, trying this and that, to no joy. Uninstalled all drivers, the GTX675MX, everything. Messed around with the Nvidia control panel settings (I get same fps with integrated gfx selected as 'high perfomance nvidia processor' ). The power is on High Performance.

Pc Specialist does not list any drivers in the download section for this order and I am at a total loss. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Tx for reading

If you open up Device Manager and click on Display adapters do you see the GTX675 in there? If you don't, and my guess from what you've said above is that you won't, then you definitely should call PCS. It sounds like your dGPU has not been working since day 1 and you've been running solely on the iGPU. The fresh reinstall of Windows also tends to confirm it's a hardware issue.

Call PCS and do let us know how you get on. :)

Edit: If you do see the GTX675 in Device Manager try updating the driver from there and see how you get on?

yeah could be hardware but others are more knowledgeable about it than me. If its still in warrenty (which im pretty sure it should be) give PCS a call and let them fix it.

Just an update. Few calls and a remote access session lead to concluding there's likely an issue with my GTX675MX. When I receive my new desktop I am arranging a return of the laptop for repair. The people I spoke with were really helpful.

Well that's kind of good news. I know how frustrating this must be but it will get sorted. Thanks for keeping us all up to date. :)

Awesome news. What's the desktop you ordered? Will you disappointed that you bought the desktop when they fix the laptop? I would be gutted.

Sorry about not being able to rectify the issue on the phone with you at least you will have a shiny new desktop to play with while we fix your laptop!

Just an update - things on hold, my 2k+ desktop turned up, no sound and slow performance, poorly packed. Made calls to rectify, was told my headset must be broken and had I tried another or speakers?
Did as was asked, no change.
Rang back, was told a realtek driver link would be emailed to me in 'no more than 5 mins'. Nothing came so after an hour I had to ring back and someone sent me it there and then.
Installed, no change.
Rang again, could barely hear the guy and could understand other shouty conversations going on around him with ease. RMA arranged, eventually - This is for new desktop, not laptop.

I am at a loss with these people, really. Now I have to pray that they don't try to stitch me up by claiming my packing and sending is to blame. Thousands of pounds down and not one properly working machine. You can check my previous posts btw if you think I am just out to cause trouble - I have entered this with the best of intentions.

I am in the same boat as you, I have spent £1000 on a desktop and since June it has been back 5 times, the last 3 times the PC has not even worked correctly out of the box. The unit was apparently tested last time but the hard drive had not even been reconnected after replacing the power supply!

I have just received it back again this evening and only one hard drive is working after replacing EVERY COMPONENT!!!!. HAD ENOUGH! Time for my money back.

Arooflechuck, sorry to hear the new PC has arrived in less than amazing circumstances. You should not be getting really low performance and I will look into sorting this out personally for you as soon as possible I will keep my eye on your RMA when it comes back out. My apologies again, can I confirm (as I am not at PCS at the minute with no notes to access) did the PC arrive damaged?

arooflechuck,
At least you got a response, which is more than can said for me...
I hope they restore your faith in PCS but going by my experience I would not hold out much hope. I will be going elsewhere.

Have a good Christmas, even if it is without your PC :santa:

tx moosEH - yr reply means a lot.

The sound never worked at all, the PC did not detect any jacks/acknowledging inputs of 'phones, speakers, mics etc.
My fps in WoW was 50ish in busy areas, with settings maxed out. I was expecting much much higher (my laptop before its current problems would push over 150 with same maxed settings) and in conjunction with the sound thing, I just figured the worst. It was only out of the box for about 5 hours but there did not appear to be any physical damage, certainly externally.

I sincerely thought that lightening could not strike twice (re. the laptop thing) and that this would be my 'PCspecialist is awesome' experience. I hope that this works out and I do have faith - I don t welcome any negativity to this thread (i have that in abundance ;) - that you guys can right this. The spec for interested observers is:
