Ok so a day late by our time but US is celebrating now.

You have to see this. This was an actual Holiday special that George Lucas put out in 1978.

Just watch it. Disney were so ashamed of it they refused to put it on Disney+

It's horrific, I watched it years ago and the levels of phoning it in, cringe and absurdity makes it a must watch
You've got to bear in mind, this was a year after release of the first film in November '78. Now Star Wars was actually a low budget movie believe it or not, the Studio greenlighted for $8m with the initial proposal in 1973, but by the end of production it was at $11m, but that's still peanuts at the time. Adjusting for inflation, that's around $45m today. That's just nothing. In return, adjusted for inflation, it's brought in over $1.5Bn, with only Gone With The Wind beating it. Just insane.

To give a rough picture of budgets adjusted for inflation compared to some modern films:

So despite the success, it was a budget minded series that no one really expected to achieve the success it did.

But even so, what on earth was Lucas thinking???
