Hard drive error: End to End Error Detection

I ran HD Tune Pro to check the health of my Maxtor Momentus XT ST95005620AS 500GB hard drive in my Optimus ii, purchased October last year, and this shows up under Health:

(B8) End To End Error Detection
Current: 94
Worst: 94
Threshold: 99
Data: 6
Status: Failed
Error! Threshold reached. Replacing the hard drive is recommended.

What does this mean and should I get my hard drive replaced? I'd rather not have to deal with losing all my data a few months down the line. Would PCSpecialist be able to send out a replacement hard drive, then have me send the old one back in its box?

It means your hard drive could fail at any time, best do a backup before this happens.,

I had the exact same issue with my Vortex III. I have 2 hdds (both Seagate Momentus XT) and they both showed that exact same error in HDtune and other programs like Passmark Burn In Test and Acronis Drive Monitor. I contacted PC Specialist after finding out that this message meant what the above poster stated. They agreed to give me an RMA for one drive only. I am not sure if these errors are false positives due to the SSD sector on the hybrid drives or PC Specialist are building systems with defective parts. Either way, I'd contact them if I were you. Especially if that is your only storage device.
