Hdmi slot partially blocked.

Got my desktop a week ago, and just tried to plug a tv into it via hdmi. However the hdmi can't be plugged in because a bit of metal which is next to the hdmi slot and poking out a bit. It's not actually covering the slot but restricts me plugging the hdmi cable in.

All help appreciated.

Aha. My mum's PC has the exact same issue. The only way round it is to use a different GPU with a differently-placed HDMI port, or to file away the case metal a bit.

Before taking a file to a brand new PC speak to PCS. If they say file a bit off then OK but if you do more harm than good you could negate your warranty!

You coud always buy a DVI to HDMI coverter & use this , might be better idea than buying a dfferent GPU or filing down the Case or RMA ,they are very cheap these days most pc shops stock them , you can even buy the leads pre-fitted with the DVI on one end & the HDMI on the other end , you will have all the same features & resolution options as you would do with the HDMI port.

Definately a quicker fix than anythig else (unless your using multiple montors that is i suppose as you might need that HDMI port)

Just out of interest, what would be your suggestion if he was moosEh?

I may be incorrect but if I am I blame the viewing angles.

It looks like you should be able to run the cable along the Mana's back plate cover and down into the HDMI port as apposed to straight into the port where the back plate would push the cable out.

Can't quite get my head round that idea. As i see it this is the bit of metal stopping the HDMI cable from fitting

I am not sure without having it in front of me. That was one of my colleague's suggestions.

To me it looks like the bit of metal that appears out of line should be tucked in, not proud as it looks here. I might just tuck back in with the judicious use of a small flade bladed screw driver! Shame we haven't heard back fro the OP, we may never know the outcome! Have you any way of finding out if he contacted PCS or perhaps that sort of info would be commercially sensitive, pity am very curious now!

Edit: Just found this large image, explains what I meant re "just tuck it back"

Ill check a case we have in stock but I think that metal is there by design.

As you said before, tis' all a question of camera angle but to me it looks like the bit of metal is part of the HDMI slot and will most likely be on the mobo not the case. That's how it looks to me anyway!
