So i bought a pc specialist pc, with windows 10 installed. I'm just wondering if i was to upgrade my Asus H110M-R Motherboard to MSI Z97s. Would everything still work fine & would i need to reninstall windows?

Why would you want to replace it with a motherboard for an older family of CPUs (which won't work with whatever you have now). And you'd need new RAM too...

Why not buy a Z170 or Z270 mobo if you want to upgrade?

Maybe give a bit of context about what you're trying to achieve by changing the motherboard as well. :) What does the current one not do for you?

Was just going to go for a black & white theme, working from the ground up. Mb to cpu & then watercooled..

Just out of curiosity why did you not do the colour themed thing when you ordered it only a month ago? It would've saved you money to just buy one setup with the intention of keeping it as is rather than changing things after a month.
Also note that the Win10 license will currently be tied to your current motherboard (though there may be a way to tie it to your Microsoft account instead but I've not tried it and I don't know whether it works or not) so on a new motherboard your current Win10 license would not currently be valid and yes changes of motherboard generally do require a clean installation of Windows.

Your CPU is a Kaby Lake CPU. That means it will only work on motherboards with Socket 1151. The Z97 is Socket 1150. Which means that to use it you'd have to buy a CPU from 3 generations ago.

Watercooling is only worth it if you're overclocking.

The CPU you've bought is locked, and the H110M-R mobo doesn't support overclocking. Which means watercooling isn't a good use of money.

You've literally just spent about £200 on a CPU 6 weeks ago, and you're already considering replacing it and the motherboard... In all candour I think you need to rethink this one.

What should i upgrade then?..

If you want to upgrade something you could add a Solid State Drive (SSD). Then you can reinstall Windows and your programs onto it, plus some favourite games, and your PC will load those things that are on the SSD a lot faster, switch on a lot faster, etc.
