Help Creating a Spec Please

Hi all,
I’d appreciate some help in creating a spec for a desktop PC and monitor please. I don’t have the required knowledge in this area to feel confident choosing the correct or most suitable components.

The software usage is as follows:

Carveco - CAD/CAM, creating 3D reliefs and models, 3D sculpting. I often use a drawing tablet with this app.

Fooocus - Local Stable Diffusion AI image generation. Apparently requires NVIDIA GPU for optimum results.

EzCad3 - Laser control. Slicing .stl models.

I won’t be gaming, editing video etc.

Budget - £3.5k

Monitor - open to suggestions. Maybe 27” in size.

I’m currently running the above on a fairly old Acer Predator gaming laptop, hence the decision to upgrade. This will be a work/business machine, so efficiency and speed are priorities, particularly with IA image rendering and 3D sculpting.

Suggestions regarding a suitable spec most welcome. Thanks in advance.

Does the budget include the monitor, or is that on top?

A 4k 32" (or larger if you have the space) monitor may be beneficial to your work use.

This is where I'd be...with the option of going to the RTX4090 if the budget is for the PC only.

Case
CORSAIR 5000D AIRFLOW TEMPERED GLASS GAMING CASE - good size case, with good airflow and space for components to breath easily (and for upgrades if you need add-in cards for storage/peripherals)
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 16 Core CPU (4.5GHz-5.7GHz/80MB CACHE/AM5) - the beefiest non-gaming / non-Threadripper AMD CPU
Motherboard
ASUS® TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI (AM5, DDR5, PCIe 4.0, Wi-Fi 6) - don't know if there's much point going higher than this for better power stages/protections (someone else may be able to offer an opinion here)
Memory (RAM)
64GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 5600MHz (2 x 32GB) - fastest PCS offer for 64GB or greater on Asus boards, but very little performance difference between this and 6000Mhz
Graphics Card
16GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4080 SUPER - HDMI, DP, LHR - only beaten by the 4090 in Carveco and Fooocus
Graphics Card Support Bracket
NONE (BRACKET INCLUDED AS STANDARD ON 4070 Ti / RX 7700 XT AND ABOVE)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
512GB SOLIDIGM P44 PRO GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 7000MB/sR, 4700MB/sW) - small, fast Windows/apps drive (not for documents/models/files)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
2TB SOLIDIGM P41+ GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 4125MB/sR, 3325MB/sW) - slower, but larger drive for working projects and possibly cache
1st Storage Drive
6TB SEAGATE IRONWOLF PRO 3.5", 7200 RPM 256MB CACHE - large storage drive
Power Supply
Power Supply

As for monitors, if image quality is critical, then I'd suggest one of the LG Ultrafine/Ergo, Dell Ultrasharp, or Benq DesignVue models for really crisp displays (iiyama also has decent productivity options too, but only go up to 28").

Smaller 27" 4k, and 27" 1440p versions are cheaper, but here's the 32" 4k suggestions...

LG 32UN650P-W (around £400)

Dell P3223DE (non-ultrasharp) (around £400)

Dell Ultrasharp U3223QE (around £700)

Benq DesignVue PD3205U (around £500)

Tony, many thanks that’s very helpful.

I can push the budget beyond £3.5k and allow extra for a monitor. If the 4090 is worth the extra outlay then that’s fine.

I selected your preferred 1200 RMx Shift PSU no problem; maybe the config is fixed now.

I will check out the monitors you linked to. Larger than 27” is probably the way to go.

Thanks for your time and help.

My Fooocus usage will certainly be enough to justify the upgrade. It’s painfully slow with my current machine.

I will go ahead and purchase tonight. I think PCS need to send you a hamper this Xmas.
