Help needed with parts for optimus 2 power connection failure

Hello all, my 18 month odd old optimus 2 developed a faulty power connection and has melted out the internal power socket and the plug that connects the power brick to it. i asked pcspecialist about getting it repaired but their only option was to replace the entire motherboard for £250 odd, which i can't afford. Having done a bit of research it seems its a common enough problem and i've found a local pc repair guy who's willing to do the work but he doesn't stock the parts. So basically I have to find the correct replacement power connector socket (the bit inside the laptop itself) something like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LOGIQ-Hi-...uting_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item3f120b2a57

and then also a power plug end to replace the burned out one currently attached to the power brick, this sorta thing:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-Power-...al_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item1c1015c591

Now trouble is I'm not that clued up about this and I was hoping you good people could give me some guidance as to what precise parts I need to look for, pc specialist told me that the optimus 2 uses a clevo w170hr motherboard/chassis so i understand there will be a specific power connector to match that...

As for the power plug it seems the dimensions are key so again if anyone can point me to the correct size replacement that would be just dandy

thanks for any help, Ralph

I think you would be far better off going round to the pc repair guy taking the laptop apart and finding a identical part with him this way you wont have any issues buying the incorrect parts.

I guess, I have taken it round to him to have a quick look and confirm the problem, but understandably he doesn't particularly want to spend time when he could be working on taking the case apart and then researching the parts, also he works from home rather than shop so may well not particularly want me hanging round his house whilst we try to find out what we need...

But what you say does make a lot of sense, maybe I'll suggest it to him, seemed an accommodating guy...

In the meantime if anyone else knows the info I'm after that would be great

If you contact PCS about this they may be able to tell you what part you need (or even supply it if required)?

I've already tried that (at some length- 20 emails or so, they always seem to answer part or sometimes none of my questions) and they seem unable to tell me which power connector socket they used, they did offer to sell me another power supply, but theres nothing actually wrong with the brick itself and I don't think they offer a replacement plug connection alone. Then as I said they're not prepared to do any desoldering/ resoldering their only option for repairing the power socket is to replace the entire motherboard for £247.50!
