Help please (for Processor Cooling)

Hi!

I am currently have a i7 6700 , rtx 2060 acer aspire T3-710 computer, because of the acer motherboard only support ddr3 ram and not able to change full size graphic card so I am planing to change a new pc which I can use longer ( at least 5 years) and have a better motherboard which I can change parts when necessary later.

I have do some research about this specification, but I am not sure about the processor cooling.

I don't want a huge tower fan stand in the middle of the motherboard as it's not looks very good, but either don't want use liquid processor cooling as I found some people are having leaking problem although it will have some warranty to cover the lost but it take times to rebuild the pc or replace the parts and I will be worry about leaking every time I using computer.

I am not good at change parts myself in the computer so I want to choose one fans which can last longer and don't need myself to service it. I have choose pcs frostflow 100 v3 CPU cooler as it's not looks huge but not sure will this cooler enough for cooling the CPU? ( just for gaming and everyday use, not using overclock)

Thanks for the help!

I would be inclined to rethink a number of areas in the build.

What spec of monitor do you currently have? Model would be fine if you aren't sure. Specifically need to know resolution & refresh rate.
What is your maximum budget?
What is your intended usage, is it purely for gaming?
Any other needs that you can think of?

Can likely get you a more fitting system. The main thing to consider for temps right now is Intel vs AMD. Intel have finally caught up performance wise but AMD still blow them out the water for efficiency and cooling. There's nothing between them performance wise but there may be more life in the Intel socket, whereas I believe AMD only have a refresh in mind for the current gen. It's a bit of a toss up really, but something definitely worth chewing over.

Hi Scott, thank you so much for the help and quick reply! I am using hp monitor with 2560 x 1440p and 165 Hz refresh rate.

I am thinking to spend £2200-£2600 for the new pc(to maximum the tax benefits). The reason I pick intel 12th gen is because of the ddr5 support and I guess it can last a little longer.

I am using computer for gaming and doing some company design work(like photoshop and Adobe Illustrator)

What’s your advice please?

Excellent, thanks very much for the detailed info. With 1440p 165hz you don't really need to be looking past the 3070 so you could save a lot of money there if that was of interest.

The budget is pretty much bang on for a top end build though.

With regards to the DDR5, I don't think we are there yet with the availability. It's the first iteration of it so I don't think there's much to be gained. However, if you are willing to spend the extra money now, knowing that you won't benefit for years, and then upgrade the CPU/DDR through the life of the system then it will have merit. I'll explore both options though. With photoshop and illustrator you will want good core speed with a decent amount of RAM (Will stick with 32GB as that's a good position).

No need to be worried, they’re a closed loop and the liquid is non-conductive. I’ve had my H100i running pretty much 24/7 since last July and it’s been peachy. I haven’t heard of an AIO cooler leak in at least three years now.
