Help wanted to build a new desktop

I have two PC Specialist desk tops and I want to replace the older one for an up to date unit.

The older one is on customer number 149338 bought in August 2006 running on Windows XP.
The newer one is on customer number 367930 bought in December 2010 running on Windows 7 x 64 bit.
Purchased from you in 2010.

I would appreciate help for a new desktop package that will provide an up to date version of this.
I have built a system on your web site (quote reference 453816) based roughly upon my last unit
and would appreciate some help from your helpful people in confirming my choice.

I understand that we can now have a solid state hard drive for the operating system to enable quicker start up.
What is your opinion on this item and how does this work as against a standard hard drive.

It would be helpful if you could give us a rough idea of what you will be using the PC for and a rough budget.

Also note, that only the admins of the forums can possibly see your previous order details since they are the oones that work for PCS :)

Personally my opinion of SSD's is that they are still too expensive for my liking, but many have said that once they've had them they cant live without them anymore such is the speed increase in booting and loading.

Do you need a new machine, or would it not be possible to upgrade your current machine? If you need a 2nd machine then fair enough, but after a year and a half it seems like your old desktop should have loads of life in it yet?

You could upgrade to a SSD, add a bit more RAM and upgrade the GPU all very easily and it would be like having a whole new PC for much less money.

If possible go into your orders and post up your current spec, with your proposed spec under it and we can see if you would be better with just an upgrade.

It's easy to post them to the forums, a handy post is at the top of the forums.
