Help with 1080p 144hz gaming pc?

I mainly play on xbox but I want a pc that can run games on a 144hz monitor if I wish too as well as generally being fast. Games I'm thinking of playing are GTA 5 (doesn't have to reach 144hz, 60 would be fine on here) as well as games I wish to play in the future that I can't get on xbox/playstation. I also play RS3 and OSRS but they're less demanding so wouldn't need anything specifically for that. I don't have a set budget but I'd want something that would last and be useful for a number of years to come if possible. I'm currently running a gtx 970 which is now over 5 years old.

In terms of the GPU I would go for 1660S at least. I'll try get a build together for you. Budget?

As I said in my post, I don't specifically have a budget but I don't want to go overboard with it.
Doesn't help all that much mate, not going overboard to someone could mean £1,500 and the next person it could mean £5,000

It helps us to have a number to aim for so we can better decide where to make compromises

I'd say max of £1,500. But if it can be lower whilst still maintaining a good output then that'd be nice.

£1,500 is a nice budget. This build should meet your requirements

Would you recommend the 2060 over the 3060 or is it merely due to the time it's taking to get a 30 series card atm?

I've been pretty vocal about my dislike for the 3060 in general, you're paying an absolute premium for a GPU that's basically a high end 1080p card. For that cost you can basically touch a 1440p 144hz card so for me it's a no brainer to go for the 1440p instead of the 1080p 3060. The main problem being availability of the the cards in the price range of the 3060

The 2060 is significantly cheaper and still offers fantastic 1080p experience so it's a no brainer for me.

Ah ok thank you, and is the liquid cooling necessary for the top build or could I keep the parts but take that out?

You could take it out yes, the standard AMD cooler is pretty good actually. I like the CM LiquidLite 240 though, think it's a great piece of kit for the price so I usually recommend it. I have one and get on great with it
