Hi guys, i wonder if you could look at my predicted quote. I'm looking to replace my 7yr old alienware (pre dell takeover!) which has served me well and is now starting to show its age. I'm looking to spec a system which I can keep for a while (i know nothing is future proof) I mainly use my computer for general microsoft office, internet+videos, some games, but see myself getting more into video editing for work purposes. I don't plan on overclocking. I currently have a dual monitor set up and want a system that will run things with ease.

This is what i've come up with so far.

Case CORSAIR GRAPHITE SERIES™ 600T WHITE MID-TOWER CASE
Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-3770K (3.5GHz) 8MB Cache
Motherboard ASUS® SABERTOOTH Z77: USB 3.0, SATA 6.0GB/s, THERMAL ARMOR
Memory (RAM) 16GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz, X.M.P (4 x 4GB KIT)
Graphics Card 4GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 680 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready

2nd Hard Disk 2TB WD CAVIAR GREEN WD20EARX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE
3rd Hard Disk 2TB WD CAVIAR GREEN WD20EARX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE

2nd DVD/BLU-RAY Drive 24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM

Processor Cooling COOLIT ECO II A.L.C ADVANCED LIQUID COOLER (£49)
Sound Card Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D Fatal1ty Professional (£78)*SPECIAL*
Network Facilities 10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT - AS STANDARD ON ALL PCs
USB Options 6 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL (MIN 2 FRONT PORTS) AS STANDARD
Keyboard & Mouse Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 3000 for Business (£15)
Warranty 3 Year Gold Warranty (2 Year Collect & Return, 2 Year Parts, 3 Year Labour) (£69)

Some questions for you guys in the know:

1. I'd like an internal memory card reader. The pc specialist configurator says the one they sell in incompatible with the case (i assume as its 3.5inch and the cases only has 5.25 inch trays. Do you guys know of a decent one i can buy and fit in the case?

2. Regarding RAM, is it better to go for 32gb of the samsung 1333mhz ram or 16gb of the kingston 1600/2133mhz ram?

3. Are there major differences with the Western digital black and green hard drives? Is the black significantly faster? (i've seen their website but still a little unsure)

4. Is it worth looking at the i7 extreme (sandy bridge) processors? Is the speed benefit worth the investment or is it better to stay with the i7 ivy bridge processors?

Any other suggestions for any of the components is welcome

I appreciate any assistance/help

Budget of about 2k. Not massive gamer, would play a little. More used for video playback, video editing and internet use, but want something that will last me a long time.

Hi,
If you are not planning to OC your cpu you could go with the i7-3770 instead and the triple copper heatpipe. The coolit liquid cooler will probably be overkill if you are planning to run your cpu at stock clock speed and I'd consider the gtx 670 2gb instead of the GTX 680 4gb since it offers close performance and it is cheaper.
