Edit: Moved the question in another topic to this thread, as well as my reply.

To some degree you might be asking the wrong crowd, since while some users in the community here have had unfortunate experiences or mistakes made by PCS, in general we've all been satisfied enough by the resolutions they've offered to bother hanging around on the forums. :)

From my own experience, I had had issues with PCS systems - but in every case, PCS have stuck with it to make things right and any mistakes were genuine and not an attempt at giving customers short shrift. Most of the issues were just bad luck with hardware - I don't see any way PCS could have known my CPU's fan was going to have a problem a few weeks after they shipped it for example.

You can read reviews of systems PCS send out to professional reviewers here: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/reviews/

You can also look at websites like Trustpilot https://www.trustpilot.com/review/pcspecialist.co.uk?page=175 where out of over 19,000 customer reviews, 98% are satisfied are better, with PCS getting an average score of 9.4 out of 10. For context you can compare how that is with other major UK hardware vendors (or vendors of any kind) and see whether you think that's a good score or not :)

Obviously PCS do make mistakes and there will be instances where they can do better - and I'm sure any google search will turn up such results, not to mention the odd story on the forum. No company don't have these issues. But I think it's fair to say overall people are very satisfied.

Monitor
AOC AGON AG271QX 27" Freesync Gaming Monitor
Freesync only works with AMD GPUs. Gsync only works with Nvidia GPUs. A freesync will still work with an nvidia GPU but you won't get the 'sync' aspect which is a bit of a shame if already sinking over £400 into a screen.

I'd suggest instead:
DellS2716DG is available for £550 (27", 1440p, 144hz, gsync)
Acer Predator XB271HK ~£500 (27", 4k, IPS, gsync)
Acer Predator XB281HK ~£530 (28", 4k, TN, gsync)
Asus ROG SWIFT PG278QR ~£590 (27", 1440p, 165hz, gsync)
AOC AG271QG ~£600 (27", 1440p, 165hz, IPS, gsync)

PCS don't stock most of those (they have the AOC but it's out of stock) but you don't have to buy your monitor from PCS.

I'd also suggest:
- A better and larger SSD
- getting the system pre-overclocked (using the pre-OCed configurator:
https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers/intel-z370-overclocked/
- either a cheaper or a more expensive mobo. The TUF doesn't have USB 3.1 gen 2, unlike the Aorus gaming, or the Z370E, which also has wifi built in. And if getting a mobo that lacks those features it might as well be the cheaper Z370-P.

Graphics Card
11GB ASUS ROG STRIX GEFORCE GTX 1080 Ti - DVI, HDMI, DP
This is £100 more than a regular GTX 1080 ti and offers hardly any more performance at all. Drop it and spend the cash on other things.

ive seen quite a lot of bad reviews about pcs , so im a little concerned , its natural as ill be spending £2500 , is there any reason to take notice of these bad reviews ? any reason for concern ?

I'm obviously quite pro-PCS, but I will say I wouldn't blindly follow any company and remain open minded.

My experience was buying one laptop in 2014 which I never had any problems with and still runs strong today (in fact, I'm typing this out on it). Since then, I've been obsessively frequent on the forums and here I've experienced a load of happy and unhappy people. My experience of PCS is 99% of these cases is that they step up to the mark to make it right. There is always going to be a small percentage where they make a mess up, or the customer just can't be satisfied.

Some cases that spring to mind are:

A customer didn't ask for any advice and ordered a really poorly optimised build because he didn't realise there are components at all price points that address certain needs. He thought what he bought would be adequate for an office pc, when he'd actually bought components better suited to a smart home hub or something that uses hardly any juice. In that instance, it didn't matter what any of us said in the forum, or what PCS said, he couldn't accept that what he ordered wasn't powerful enough for his needs and felt that PCS had led him astray.

Plenty of people hold PCS to account if they don't deliver the PC within their estimated build time. Please, please, don't think of this estimate as fact, it is just an estimate. In some cases, they beat their estimate, in most they take a little longer. Every single person ever ever buying a custom PC needs to understand that it is hand build to their specifications and these companies are under massive pressure, and yes it takes time. Patience is the key. If you order fast-track, 99% of the time it's delivered within the times stated, sometimes it's delayed and that customer will get their fast-track cost refunded.

Some people get upset when they don't hear anything when there are delays or get worried when their build doesn't rush through the first pre-building stage. This is the longest stage of the build when the components are readied for the build and it sits in the queue. Typically, the processes after this are all done within a few days. If you think it's taking too long, don't moan, call PCS and run it past them, or come on the forums and get some advice. Communicate, don't suffer in silence.

Those are just some examples where customers can be difficult, and I think they're not making use of the full service that PCS offer, including the forum and the customer service phone number. If you need to contact them, I'd always recommend phoning as email takes some time (like a couple of days) to get a response.

In my experience, they're well worth the trust and expense. You won't find an equivalent build at such a competitive price, I'll pretty much guarantee that, and I'd rate them very highly. If you use the forums as well as PCS, it helps smooth the experience and your nerves.

TrustPilot speaks for itself also, one of the higher recognised ratings websites on the net.

Re bad reviews. I agree with Spyder's post. I have had three PCS laptops and been pleased with all of them, there was a very long wait for one but I was warned at the ordering process that a couple of parts I wanted were not in stock and PCS updated me quickly every time I contacted.

There are also some dreadful review sites and places like Reddit, who seem to basically print garbage from people with attitudes. There have also been some outrageous complaints, I remember one where a guy accused PCS of trying to kill him with dodgy wiring, the truth was he spotted some bright red wires in the case and the colour frightened him. There is also the fact that some sites print reviews without proof of purchase and as such are a trolls' heaven.

PCS are not perfect but they do work very hard and my experience if if a mistake is made they are very quick to rectify it and it would take a very bad experience for me to stop using them.
