Hi,

I hope you guys are doing well.

I have recently started my search for a gaming laptop since my Acer Nitro 5 (7300HQ, 1050Ti) is not good enough anymore for the latest games even at minimum (particularly VR). I started my search with the typical companies, and then came to know that you can get much better bang for your buck with custom built laptops. Eventually, with trying to find the best option in the UK, I came across PCSpecialist.

At the moment, I am keeping an eye on Nova 15 (Ryzen 3600, RTX 2060/2070), and Optimus 15 (Ryzen 4800H, RTX 2060) but I am in no rush right now. I have read that the prices are high right now generally but I am not sure if that's the case for PCSpecialist as well. So yeah, mainly just wanted to say hi, and I wanted to know if there might be any promotions/discounts coming soon on PCSpecialist that I should look out for. Thank you :)

Hiya, welcome, good to have you.

I think you're definitely on the right track, both with PCS (beats the pants off of any manufacturer laptop), plus looking at AMD CPU's.

Situation at the moment, we've definitely seen rise in prices since corona, an off the top of my head estimate of around £200 increase on a build.

Also some components are in short supply due to the manufacturing down turn and that warehouse stocks are now running dry and manufacturers are only just getting back up to full speeds so it will take a while to replenish things.

PCS don't really do discounts because they constantly adjust prices to the lowest possible, I'm not saying that with any connection to PCS, I don't work for them or have any reason to say anything other than my own opinion based on my experience, they just really are extremely good at remaining very competitive with prices.

That being said, they often do review builds which you can find here. These are fully specced and heavily discounted, but the drawback is they're not customisable, you have to order them as they are to get the discount. But once in a while some real bargains pop up that are far too good to miss, it's worth keeping an eye out on them.

If you can hang on for a little while, I would say it's well worth it. We should be seeing more AMD chassis coming available. AMD is defintely the way to go, significantly better performance, but mainly, inherently better thermals, better battery life and far superior security. They also tend to be a few hundred pounds cheaper than an Intel equivalent.

Thank you very much. That's a very detailed answer and addresses every question I had in mind. I have seen you on a lot of threads while searching for the laptops here, so nice to see you here as well :D

I'll keep on the lookout then, and those review builds might come in handy as well. Have a nice remaining weekend and stay safe :)
