Hi everyone,

My name is David, 26yrs old and living in Belgium.

As I'm currently working in the IT business, I'm still expanding my knowledge and find that I'm severely lacking in Hardware knowledge.
That's why I registered here, in the hopes of learning lots of new things by reading your posts and following your discussions :)

As to what I do: I'm a WMS (warehouse management system) support consultant which means I'm the first guy they call when the software (or any related piece of software/hardware) that is directing a warehouse is failing. Know my way around in basic VB.net, C#, SQL, ... Have had an education as system engineer so I know my way around the Active Directory / DNS / Exchange Servers / and whatnot. Daily work with databases and server environments. Basically I've been working with a lot of software and utility tools but sadly I'm not an expert at any of them.

Still working to change that, but I'm interested in so much different things that it's hard to keep up the effort in really getting to know something instead of being distracted by something new.

More questions, shoot! :)

Amp, you're very welcome on here of course but these forums are owned by PC Specialists and they are for discussing and troubleshooting PCS built computers. The forum rules do not allow us to discuss self builds or builds from competitors.

Hi Ubuysa,

Sorry about that, I meant no disrespect or anything, I think I didn't elaborate enough on what exactly I'm looking for.

I'm not looking for a specific brand or company of hardware. I'd like to know what to pay attention for when looking around for CPU's, Graphic cards, motherboards, ... Heaven knows I've made the error of buying RAM strips that ended up in my closet because they didn't fit on my motherboard multiple times. And because I failed to do even this simple thing, I don't really dare doing more than opening up my case and blow out the accumulated dust.

I love websites that offer you the possibility of configuring your own pc, but sadly I don't understand enough of it to judge the pieces I put in.
Of course, the internet offers more details, but it's always so overwhelming. I always lose track of what I'm reading and get sidetracked very easily.

That's what I meant :)

You could try using the PCS configurator on the main website to spec out a PC. There's no obligation to convert that to a sale of course and you'll get to see what stuff works together, because the configurator "knows" what works with what. You never know, you might be bowled over by how much performance you can get for so few pounds and actually buy one. :)
