Possibly looking at a nice high end rig ! Price is between £1500 & £2500 maybe high depending if I can swing it. Also looking at possibly having a laptop.
Either way I want to be able to play games like starfield & total war games at high fps min 60fps. Any ideas and tips would be great thanks

What make and model monitor are you pairing it with?

Yeah, not sure that's the best pairing, it's only 60Hz which isn't really a gaming monitor by todays standards.

IMHO, I'd suggest an Ultrawide monitor which would give you far more immersion and would be easier to drive at slightly lower resolution that 4k, so you'd get a far more premium experience overall.

This would push your current monitor fine in the meantime until you upgrade

Oh wow, scratch the above, the 4070ti is stupidly expensive still and the RX7900XT is FAAAR more powerful and only takes you slightly over budget, this would be a far better option.

For some reason I've configured it in the ireland site, it should pop up asking you if you want to switch to UK, make sure you select that

The current nVidia's are generally pretty awful, aside from the 4080 and 4090, they're HUGELY overpriced, and below the 4080, they're all performing a tier under what they're claiming to be, it's offensive.

Plus they don't have enough VRAM anyway so are limited in performance with modern games where you have to reduce settings to be able to play them at all which is just ludicrous.

I would avoid them at all costs.

The AMD's have far more raw tesselation performance at the same price point, and much more VRAM. But they sacrifice a bit of Ray Tracing and DLSS performance, although for AMD that's not hardware dependant so will improve with further driver updates whereas with nVidia it's reliant at a hardware level.

But Starfield has been optimised for AMD, and I don't think Total War has any Ray Tracing coded at all either, so weather nvidia or AMD is irrelevant aside from performance which AMD will be far better.

I did hear about this. Apparently modders will probably get dlss up and running asap

The point is that it's optimised for AMD so will always outperform nvidia even with DLSS support. FSR 3 will be a better result and once FSR 4 is out it will be better still.
