High spec PC freezing in game play

Morning all
We set my sons new PC up yesterday and he had problems with games freezing all day. Be it a game downloaded from steam or a new game bought on disc (far cry 4) the PC is as I understand high spec

Processor (CPU) AMD FX-9590 Eight Core CPU (4.7GHz-5.0GHz/16MB CACHE/AM3+)

Memory (RAM) 32GB KINGSTON HYPER-X FURY DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (4 x 8GB)

Graphics Card 4GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 970 - 1 DVI, 1 mHDMI, 3 mDP - 3D Vision Ready

Amy ideas why it would do this?

You could try updating the graphics card drivers from HERE

They may not be the latest drivers installed, it's always worth putting the latest on yourself. Pcs will just install what they need to verify components are working ok, but drivers get updated so frequently that they'll most likely be out of date when you get the system.

Is the spec just for gaming? Could you post the full spec? Might be some heating issues if not solved by cleanninstallation of drivers
