Ah right ok, well thanks. So you’d say I’m going to have to spend about £800 to get a pc anywhere near decent? Just deliberating between a gaming pc and a PS5, so I’m looking for a price match.

How would this setup run minecraft with a couple of light mods (maybe shaders) and lighter games like Mount and Blade Bannerlord or Total War games? I’m not looking for crazy FPS just enough that the game is smooth, so maybe 60FPS?

Yes you will need to spend that much is the general advice on here. The 3300x is currently not in stock and new GPU's come out in September possibly, so you could try again nearer then maybe as the 3300x will be back in stock Id guess and the current GPU's will be cheaper.

How much is a PS5?

There’s no official price for the PS5 as it’s being released in November but there’s good speculation that it’ll be in the £450 region so from what I’ve seen there’s no way I’ll get a gaming pc for that. Waiting for the new GPUs in September seems like a good idea.

There will be people on here with real, qualified advice. They might say a PC is still better. Are you basing on your PC budget on how much a PS5 costs?

Initially I was basing my budget on the PS5 yes but after researching gaming PCs more extensively that is obviously very unrealistic. In terms of price I’m trying to work out, with the new improved graphics and power that the PS5 will have (like RTX tracing), whether it will be worth a PC for the sake of maybe the odd mod or PC exclusive game.

I think a to match the gaming performance of the PS5,
For a custom gaming PC, i think something along the lines of this, , should about match or be on par with the specs of the PS5, give or take...

This PC spec may be bit of a mess for a gaming PC but tried get as close to the PS5 spec that i can, give or take.

If the PS5 does come in at around £450, i don't think we'll see a gaming PC to match the performance of the PS5 at that price of £450.

That's about spot on for a rought equivalent PC spec to the PS5

I still don't think the PS5 is going to retail for £500 on launch, just can't see it happening.

For me i think at bare minimum guesstimate would be...

PS5 - £599
PS5 Digital Edition - £499

Xbox Series X - £699
Xbox Series S - £399

Will be very surprising if they do come in at £500 or lower, but at the moment, i also don't see it.

Thanks a bunch for taking time to go through and configure that PC for me. By looking at price comparison even if the ps5 were to retail at £600 or even say like £650, the price difference between PC and playstation is huge. Certainly feels like paying an extra £700 for the ability to mod a game and play games like Mount and Blade seems ridiculous.

This generation of consoles will be the first time they've made PC like experience with level of detail and refresh rate. It's never been such a good experience before compared to PC. It is quite remarkable.

If budget's tight, I would always recommend to go console over PC.

That sounds like some very good advice. I’ll at least wait until the PS5 full specs and price or the console itself are released and evaluate again then. Thanks for the advice, it’s really helped me out!

Yeah, that's a good idea. By then there will be new CPU's and GPU's and motherboards out as well so PC performance will be at another level also.

The new ps5 will not have a GPU equivalent to 2070 super that's just absurd it will probably be around a 1060 or little higher. 2070 super costs 500 right now. the reason why the next-gen console will be very good is because of the optimization. Consoles are very optimised to have the best performance on the components making them perform much high than in a pc

It’s already been confirmed to be more powerful than the 2070 Super, that was confirmed by Sony a while ago:

Eg 10.28 tflops gpu power already confirmed with ray tracing = above 2070 super

Confirming and actually using the ps5 is a different story loads of companies have confirmed stuff that's never happened
