Need to know a few things...

What's it for?

What's your max budget?
Its for sending emails, surfing the web and using Microsoft Word. haha

Nah its for heavy video editing and 3D work using Premier, After Effects, 3ds Max etc.. I do alot of 3D rendering on the side whilst i work on a video project in Premier or After Effects for example. My current system performs well but its starting to crash a few times lately.

Budget is approx £3000 but not looking to go much higher.. IT was £2500 but i played around and have upped it. I'm not trying to future proof as such because last time I did that i never end up buying updated GPU or CPU.. they are usually obsolete by the time I think about upgrading. So I dont need to have the latest latest if its performance/ cost ratio is debatable.

For example i dont mind having 1TB or Hard Drive if I cant afford 2TB. That i will defo update at a later date when I have spare money or when I need more space but i have external drives for that.

Coolies.... makes sense then.
I wouldn’t worry ab9ut waiting for the next CPU’s, while there is set to be a slight IPC improvement, it’s still on 14nm and power requiremental are already quite frankly rediculous on intel. I just don’t see them being particularly competitive.

Is there a reason you didn’t choose the i9? For your uses the performance boost would be beneficial.

Ah, ok, yeah, that makes sense.

If you're not buying for a little while, then the landscape in September is going to be very different.

We've got new CPU's from AMD, the Ryzen 3 5000 series which are set to be quite a huge improvement over current CPU's in both IPC, performance and power usage.

There's a DTR on the Ryzen platform at the moment which is the Nova, but it maxes out with an RTX 2070 rather than the 2080 Super.

CPU wise, though, i'd come back in September and keep an eye out for the AMD options, hopefully we'll have something more powerful on the GPU side by then. But CPU wise, there's zero contest, the Ryzen 3900 in the Nova will absolutely destroy the 10900k in the Recoil.

Thank you for the info.

Ive heard good thing about the Ryzen.. I hear the price/ performance ratio is very good.

Theres no Ryzen options in the configurator at the moment but i'll keep checking and defo consider it.

Thanks thats a good one.

Is it avaliable with any 17 inch laptops?
Unfortunately not at the moment, but again, this may be an option with the next refresh with the AMD 5000 series chips hopefully announced in september.

It's been a very popular chassis, and performance is insane.
