Hypothetical 1440p Gaming & video editing PC for under £1600

Ok as the title says this is hypothetical, but thought I'd spec myself something based on the following:

1) I'd set the HP system up thats under the bed and convert the W7 license on that to W10 digital and then use that digital license here
2) I'd use the 2070 Super that's in my existing system in this build & upgrade it at a later date
3) Transfer some of the internal drives from the existing system over

So here it is, any thoughts appreciated:

Almost looks like it was put together by a forum regular!

The only thing I'd change if it was my own system would be to use the 5000X and the H115i instead, but that's very much a question of taste.

I’ve got a different take on things. Gone for an eight core Intel chip that’s based on a fairly old architecture. Old architecture is good, I’ve been to Rome and the buildings are lovely.

I’ve gone for a case with minimal gaps. The more gaps, the more dust and spiders can get inside. Some people recommend cleaning the inside of your PC a few times a year, but if it’s a sealed box you don’t have to bother with that.

I’ve taken that RAM frequency down to 2400MHz: slow and steady wins the race.

One 8TB HDD will be all the storage you need. I’ve not added any extra drives because it’s more complicated and surely it makes more sense to have everything in one place.

A 450w power supply should cover you, there’s no point having all that extra power running loose in there, getting up to who knows watt.

I don’t know much about the cooler but it’s got the word ‘frost’ and the number ‘100’ in it… so it must be good.

There’s a good sound card and a fast WiFi card in there. They’re expensive, that’s all you need to know.

I’ve put you in a year’s subscription to Norton antivirus as it’ll protect you from the evils of the internet. Combine that with Chrome as your OS and you’re going to be an invisible, invincible ninja of the World Wide Web.

No warranty added because I’m pretty sure this design is flawless. And it’s under budget! You can thank me later, buddy.

I think it is lacking some additional USB ports. You could also add a monitor (27” or above 1080p), mouse, keyboard, headset, speakers and webcam.

Anyway, sorry to have hijacked your thread with a bit of nonsense. In all honesty, really like that spec. I love the 465X and the rest of the build is sublime.

The only change I’d make (and that would be if I was buying it for myself, your uses may well have different requirements) is to go for 4x8GB 3200MHz. I know I’d never need more than 32GB for my uses, I’d fancy the wee performance boost from four matched sticks… and the extra two slots of RGB goodness looks ace.

The hijack was no problem I was laid in bed having a real lazy moment when i put this together..........

The 4*8 could be possible, more so if that annoying problem has been sorted with the 3600MHz, as, as well as gaming I'd be using it for video editing, but yeah the more RGB unicorn vomit the better

@Martinr36 There's just one thing that leapt out to me... no wifi?

Also, and this is purely a personal choice, but I would plump for a 1000W PSU, 850 is fine, but it's right on the nose should you want top end GPU's in the future, I would just give that extra breathing space if the price isn't too bad.
