i5 8400 or i5 8600 how much ram.

Juat a quick question - which is better, an i5 8400 with 16 gig of ram, or an i5 8600 with 8 gig of ram (gaming) ?
Managed to save a few more pennies and have a budget of around £1200. Using current monitor (1080).

Which is better in synthetic benchmarks? Probably i5 8600k with 8gb.

But you could go with an i5 8400 and 8gb RAM, and not actually notice any performance difference whatsoever most of the time. Also RAM is hugely expensive right now.

If you're shopping in the £1000-£1200 neck of the woods check out: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/configure-review/251/
i5 8600k, 16gb RAM, GTX 1060 6gb, 250gb SSD, 1TB HDD, £1029 fixed price.

If you manually configured the same spec, it would be just shy of £1200.

RE: Review model. Enigma X02 £1,029.
How future proofed is a 450W PSU? Concerned that if in 3 years time i'd like a new sexy gpu and 450W won't cut it.
The SSD is way slower than a SAMSUNG PM961 - will i really notice the difference?
RAM is 2133MHz, isnt 3000MHz a better choice (Sure ive read faster Ram can make quite a difference)

And finally what spec would you recommend for £1250.

Any advice would be very welcome. Thank you.

In gaming performance, there would be no difference at all.

The new WD Blue version with 3D NAND is about on par with a Samsung 850 Evo - the 840 and 850 Evos having been perhaps among the most popular and fastest Sata consumer SSDs ever. So it's not a bad SSD.

You can run a GTX 1080 off a 450W PSU easily. So it should still leave you with options. 550W would be ideal imo but not a deal breaker

It can make quite a difference. And given a choice, I always advocate it. But in most situations it makes virtally no difference (1 fps, sometimes less). Also the Engima X02 carries such a heavy discount that you could buy it, throw the RAM in the bin, buy your own 3000MHz RAM, and still be better off than if you'd bought the same spec manually configured.

Cheers for the info. Went for the review model in the end.
Very pleased with it althougth the internal packaging marked the inside of the acrylic window and it just dosent want to come off! Microfibre cloth and a small amount of washing up liquid hasnt helped. Shame that.

Marked how exactly?

Might be worth contacting PCS a) so they're aware there might be a an issue with their packing and b) so they can suggest a fix or if needed send you a new panel

The mark is about the size of a house brick, rectangular in shape -series of scuff marks, that match the size of the air product they have put inside the case.

Jesus, I manually built this rig, only worse and mpre expensive. Now I want to change. My order is in pre-production. What do I do?
