Okay I'll give PC Specialist a call just now and see if I can get the drivers sent to me. I did call up a few days ago with regards to the Control Centre which they sent me via email.

With regards to Oculus, I fully agree. I absolutely hate Facebook. Only reason I'm using it is because we got it sent free from my girlfriends work!
You don’t want them sent to you, you need your PCS account populated. Sending them to you is pointless.

Well I called up earlier this evening. There’s still seems to be the issue where my downloads folder is empty on my PC Specialist account. I was sent over the files via email and I’ve installed them. Not had a chance to test out HLA yet though. Not totally confident this will solve the problem either. But I’m not really sure what else to do.

Have you installed the nvidia game experience to double check your drivers? This could be a start. I am going to test HLA this afternoon both in oculus link and Virtual Desktop modes and keep you updated

Yeah, i've got Geforce experience, and made sure all my drivers are up to date.

Thanks, that would be great actually.

I got the error message from Oculus about the computer not being suitable for VR. My guess is that the cable I used was not good enough. Or the 3070 not being recognised by Oculus Link yet.
I still have to finish transfering the games from the old computer so no HLA yet but I did play the oculus experiences with no lag whereas my old laptop would just turn off due to overheating after 5 mn.

meanwhile I did a 3Dmark
Results are as I expected
CPU temp went up to 90 and GPU max temp 80 dropping to 60 within seconds when not sollicited

Nice. If you send Fire Strike Extreme scores people might think those are the scores for the normal Fire Strike and think those are underwhelming, instead those are at a higher resolution. When you can, redo the Firestrike STOCK benchmark and post in the dedicated thread of the forum, if you like the results, please ;)

Hi there,

I've been having a lot of issues with my new Iconico 17" RTX 3070. I ran a benchmark on userbenchmark.com and extremely shocking results.

I do not understand what this means, is this an issue with my build. Or a serious software issue on my end?

Hey; I got my Iconico today too and my results are wildly different; I had to alter the Mux Switch to get proper results but this is what the same site gave me in Turbo mode. The only difference between ours is the speed and quantity of RAM and the speed and quantity of storage.

It won’t let me post the photo but I’m hitting 116% in gaming, 88% Desktop and 108% in Workstation.
this was with the Dynamic Boost set to 5w; I then did the test again with full dynamic boost and got the following: G: 121% D: 100% W: 111%.

It doesn’t make sense that yours under performs unless you’ve not done the Mux etc…

I received the laptop last Friday. I then proceeded to do a fresh install of windows 10 via usb as I selected to purchased with no operating system. I then made sure to run all my windows updates, install Nvidia GeForce Experience. I had to get in contact with PC Specialist and got them to send me the Control Centre setup via email and that is all I have done.

In terms of performance it's utterly shocking. I'm not sure if it's something I have done, or a serious fault with the GPU. But i'm really unsure as to what to do now.

Im concerned that the OP got his system, saw it had Win 10 on it already and then ran from there, rather than reinstalling.

When you order without a copy of Windows you get a test version, its not a proper version, and if you try to use it you (nearly) always run into big problems...

Without doing a full, clean install of windows, and then running windows update to death, you wont have a stable system to work from.

Hmmm... that does confuse things a little. faulty GPU wouldnt explain why the horrific CPU results though... something else is going on here...
When you log into your PCS account, theres an option for downloads that should have all the software you need (like control centre) for your laptop to run... are there any chipset drivers or anything like that?

I'm thinking you may need the proper experts here... i'm a novice myself, I can flick a switch but i cant read a dump file!

There's currently an issue on the downloads section. I called PC Specialist directly about this and they had to send me the drivers via email. Honestly, it makes me think i've installed something majorly wrong.

There was a file sent to me with chipset driver. I've reinstalled it and i'm gonna run another benchmark. Not confident though.

Your windows isn’t configured yet, so it’s not going to perform as it should.

Have you set the MUX switch in BIOS?

Youll need a fresh install of windows also as you’ve overplayed older driver versions which will conflict.

Configuring windows is a very specific process.

A dump isn't going to help with a performance problem - but the Performance Monitor will. ;)

It's a very steep learning curve getting to grips with how to use the Performance Monitor but it has incredible granularity and can pinpoint where you're having performance problems. It's well worth the effort in learning to use it effectively. I've written a very basic 'get-you-started' tutorial here which is worth a good read followed by some experimenting to get used to using this tool. It can provide good evidence on where the performance problem lies if used appropriately.

@angelo994, from this post it seems that you did all the right things when you installed your original copy of Windows...

It is interesting that PCS sent you what is presumably an updated chipset driver. Did that make any noticeable difference?

The post from @WJS about this 'Mux Switch' (whatever that is?) sounds very helpful and promising, it's certainly something you should try.

Once you're confident that you've installed all drivers and control software and you've made any other BIOS or hardware changes that are needed (like this Mux Switch) and if you're still having problems, then see whether the Performance Monitor can help provide some evidence of where the issue is. That will be useful and hard evidence to demonstrate to PCS that you do have a problem.

This does highlight a particular problem when you buy with no-OS, and especially laptops with their peculiar control software requirements. When you buy with no-OS, PCS may not do any necessary BIOS or other hardware configuration changes needed to properly support your chosen OS. Thus when you buy with no-OS you really are assuming all responsibility for both installing your chosen OS and configuring the BIOS and any other hardware features in order to support it. Having said that, there is a peculiarity with TongFang in that they apparently have no public driver repository so PCS must in that case provide drivers and necessary control software - but BIOS and hardware configuration is still down to the customer.

Buying with no-OS is not always just a simple case of installing your own copy of Windows - especially on laptops. Others reading this might bear that in mind. :)

Well I installed that chipset driver and encountered an even more serious error and my laptop wouldn’t even boot. As of this morning I am doing another clean install of windows from the beginning..

I’m sorry guys I’m really just having such a terrible time with this.

Once you’ve installed windows, then ask for help, there’s a very specific way to configure it. Don’t install anything other than windows
