I'd appreciate some help with this quote.

Hi, after many years of running a trailing-edge pc it's finally time to make a brand new purchase of the whole lot and I'd appreciate any thoughts on the following build in considering from PCSpecialist.

I have a budget of £1,200 and use the pc for the usual mix of work and gaming. Work requires remote desktopping for various databases and MSOffice. My gaming habits are fairly broad, with RPGs, grand strategy, space sims and Indies making up the majority.

So does the following look like I'm on the right track? I do have a couple of specific questions too:

The motherboard says that the RAM slots are "3200MHz Max". Does this mean that when choosing RAM I should elect for RAM at that speed and no more? I selected RAM based on that figure but wasn't sure if I was understanding that relationship correctly.

I really don't know my way around the pros/cons/pitfalls of case design so the selected case is based on guesswork...

Is anything here over or under-specced in relation to the overall cost? I'd like the best I can afford at this price and am trying to get components that are roughly in line with each other. The GPU feels like it might be something that sits under-spec in relation to some of the rest of it but I figured that could be something that gets an upgrade in the future.

I would love to stretch to a 1440 display but ended up going for 1080p. Is 1440 gaming realistic at this price? I imagine it would need a complete rethink.

Many thanks in advance.

That’s very similar to my build which was delivered yesterday. I used the Fractal G case and swapped the SSD for the intel M.2 SSD based on advice I received here (I had an RX 570 as well but I doubt you would want to change that!).

Looks good but I’m still setting it up so haven’t too much to report. Certainly far, far faster than the 8 year old PC it replaced but then I wouldn’t expect anything else!
