Hey,

Looking at getting the Optimus V 13" with the 3k screen, however I was wondering if you could let me know what the refresh rate is for it and if they are touch screen etc, as I know some of the 3/4k laptop screens run at 30hz or 45hz and couldnt find any info on this one as well as the other ones such as Defiance 4k screens.

Also are there any other up and coming laptops with higher resolution screens?

Looks like the 3K/4K IPS option is coming to the 17" Defiance. No option on the drop down menu yet though. I assume they're in the process of updating the site.

Go to their website. Click 'configure a laptop'. Then look at the specs for 17" Defiance. It now says 4K IPS panel option in bold. That wasn't there until a couple of days ago.

Ooooo... nice! When they release the GTX970m and GTX980m with 6 and 8gb that'd be perfect!

Could well be a typo.

There are only three 4K laptop panels - manufacturerd by Sharp and Samsung. 2880x1620 panels are only available in a 15.5" size and are only made by Panasonic.

EDIT: And Clevo's own site doesn't mention anything other than HD.

Compare that to Clevo's page about the P650SG, aka the 15" Defiance:

Could be. But the fact that that line in bold appeared recently along with the new processor option for the 17" (which isn't priced yet) makes me think otherwise. I'm over due a replacement laptop, but reluctant to order a 1920 x 1080 screen at this stage and 15" isn't big enough. Hopefully, it'll come soon.

If a quality 17" 3K/4K panel is coming soon then it puts a spanner in the works! Personally, I feel that 1080 is not high enough res for a 17" screen (having run for years at this res on a 15" laptop), so I've kind of counted out the 17" PCS models. If this is about to change then I may have to wait a while for my new baby...
