Initia keyboard led backlight

I'm not sure if this is a Linux matter or not.

Fn key access to the keyboard leds does not work on my 15.6" Initia (Clevo NL55PU Model B with Linux Mint 21.3 installed). On my old Clevo laptop (P150EM Model A), using the Fn key with key * (on the numeric keypad - above key 9) would turn the leds on or off, and using Fn with the keypad + or - keys would increase or decrease the led brightness. From the manual for the Initia, the same should happen, but it doesn't. Is the new model dependent on the Windows Control Center being installed? I noticed that, when booting, the leds would slowly change colour before returning to a steady blue, so assumed keyboard led control was within the Bios as I don't have Windows installed. If that's the case, why does the Fn key not function with the led control keys on the numeric keypad? I couldn't see anything in the manual relating to the Insyde Bios about accessing the keyboard leds, and I'm always reluctant to play with the Bios as it's too easy to screw something up! (As an aside, am I the only one to find the old Dos-style Bios a lot clearer and simpler to use than the Insyde Bios GUI-style interface?)

(For the specs of the Initia see my post 'Mint 21.3 Edge installed on 15.6" Initia')

On a related matter, has anyone installed the Novacustom Linux led control system? It seems to be based on the Tuxedo, but says that's no longer available for non-Tuxedo laptops.

Yeah, control center is required in windows. Until that’s installed it won’t work properly and even things like cooling will be sub optimal. But control center control the rgb (as well as everything else)

If you’re on Linux, I believe tuxedo stuff is compatible from what I’ve heard.

There’s also SignalRGB and OpenRGB but not sure if they have Linux versions yet.

I can confirm that this does allow control of the keyboard led lighting. Disable UEFI/Secure Boot and run this in a terminal:

wget https://github.com/wessel-novacustom/clevo-keyboard/raw/master/kb.sh && chmod +x kb.sh && sudo ./kb.sh

Reboot. After installation, to clean up the installation folder and file run:

sudo rm -rf clevo-keyboard
sudo rm kb.sh

Re-enable UEFI/Secure Boot if required.

Note that the Fn key, together with the */-+ keys on the number pad, now allow the led lighting to be turned on or off (Fn and *), the led colours to be run through and selected (Fn and /), and the brightness to be changed (Fn and + or -).
