Installing windows 8

As I am a student I can get windows for a considerably lower price then what PC specialist can offer, I am just wandering is it possible for me to install windows 8 to a new computer from the downloaded file from the windows store. I want to be able to put this download onto a USB and then install windows on to myn ssd from there. I hope this is worded correctly, I believe I can run the USB stick as a boot drive to install windows onto the ssd, I just wish to check that this assumption is correct.

Vanthus's suggestion is exactly how I installed my Windows 8, it's exactly like installing from a disk, if anything a little quicker.
