Intel vs AMD silent mini pc

Hi,
After reading through these posts, I'm stuck on which mini fanless pc to order.

I need it for basic office tasks, internet, and also photoshop elements, and possibly full photoshop at some point. I actuallyrun elements on my netbook and the speed is surprisingly good, and is totally acceptable for my needs.
(My netbook has a celeron u3600, 1.2 ghz, 4mb ram.)

My current desktop is so loud I don't like using it anymore, so I want to replace it. It has an AMD athlon 64x2 dual core
6000+, 3 ghz, 3gb ram. To me, though I'm not very computer savvy, I really can't tell the difference in general performance between the two systems I've got, but I definitely don't want to get anything slower.

I've looked at both the intel & AMD versions and configured both to 4 GB ram. Although the AMD is more expensive, it does seem a bit more 'future proof', with up to 8gb ram supported, HDMI, usb 3. However, my monitor is fairly new, but only has a D-sub connector on the back, which I'm not sure how I'd connect to the AMD. The intel has a vga out.

Any thoughts? Is it still worth spending more for the AMD? It seems to be recommended quite a bit here.

Personally I would recommend the AMD based Mini PC (http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers/amd-silent-mini-pc/) as it's more powerful yet still totally silent. It can handle full HD 1080P movies etc and will be faster with Photoshop.

It's a shame that your monitor cannot handle DVI input, but you can convent the DVI on the PC to VGA using a DVI to VGA adapter. We can supply one for free with your order but please request this at the time of ordering.
