Ionico CPU + GPU combo

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to decide between the following options for an Ionico 17:

11800H + RTX 3070
11800H + RTX 3080
5900HX + RTX 3070

Unfortunately there is no 5900HX option with 3080.

My questions:
Does anyone know the TDP of these cards in the Ionico? I have read somewhere that the 3070 is 140W but can't find any info on the 3080. I have asked PCSpecialist directly but there has been no response.

Can anyone say from experience whether this laptop is actually capable of cooling these hardware options? It seems like a thin laptop for a 3080 GPU...

Which of these three configs would you choose, and why?

I will use the laptop for everything, CAD work, Gaming, 3D scanning and general use. The difference in price isn't a huge concern, for the first time in my life I finally have the money to buy a nice laptop. That said, if the 3080 shows no real world performance advantage (considering thermal throttling etc.) then I don't want to waste the money on it.

Thanks in advance,
Tom

The tdp for 3080 is 150-165W (it depends on which bios is flash; with the new BIOS is 165W).
I think that a 3080 in a ionico is not necessary because it's a very thin laptop so I don't think it can push the 3080 to the maximum. Also the 3080 offer a small boost to 3070 (like 8-10%) and I don't think it's worth 300€ more.
Personally I'll choose the 5900hx and 3070 because the 5900hx it's better for all kind of works (unless gaming, which the 11800 can push 5-10% more in some games) especially for multi-thread works like what you're gonna use.

i had the ionico with rtx 3070 / i7 10875h and now i have the ionico 11800h / rtx 3080.

advantage of the intel version for the thunderbolt4
advantage of the rtx 3070 for the price
the rtx 3080 and useful for 16gb vram so for future games.

for having the pc
if you want an amd cpu take the valeon ryzen9 / rtx3070 because it manages the heating better than the ionico

in intel prnd the ionico 11800h / rtx3070 for the thunderbolt 4 and the intel cpu you can install a gen 4 ssd

I also advise not to take the ram sold by pc specialist because the pc supports 3200mhz ram and the max that specialist pc sells is 2933mhz .. so you have to take as little ram as possible and buy the ram elsewhere.

Thanks both of you for your input!

I find it hard to believe that the Ionico can cool a 3080 at 165W. William, do you have thermal throttling with your 11800H+3080 Ionico?

I checked the RAM, and it is possible to choose 3200MHz now, with both CPU options.

Do either of you know what the difference in battery life is between the 5900HX and 11800H? does it make a big difference? I use my laptop plugged in 95% of the time, and when unplugged would only really be using it for internet browsing etc. and very occasionally 3D scanning.

the ryzen9 consumes as much as the 11800h, the gpu 3080 never exceeds 85 ° it heats the same as the 3070 the cpu on the other hand heats up it goes up to 93 ° sometimes but the ryzen 9 will heat up more on the ionico because it is a burning cpu. why I recommend taking the valeon in ryzen9 5900hx

Hi. Do PCS supply the new bios as my valeon 3080 is a 135W + 15W
Thanks
