Ionico laptop - memory tunning profile and CPU undervolt not available

Hi Guys,

I have a Ionico Intel 10875H paired with RTX 3070, using windows 11.
Yesteday while gaming, the FPS count dropped from 120 to 20 and then the laptop rebooted. The problems stars now - after the reboot the screen of the laptop was black (no power at all) but the laptop was running ... i could hear the windows sounds. I tried to plug in a HDMI and i realized the laptop was stuck on a boot loop (blackscreen with a error related to ACPIDriver.sys).

Using safe mode, i was able to restore windows using restore point - now the screen was working but i soon realized that CC is not working anymore.
I did a clean windows 11 install, installed all drivers from PCS but i could not install CC 3.1.23 - i was getting the same bluescreen related to ACPIDriver.sys resulting in a infine reboot loop. I tried safe mode to remove CC but i was not able to uninstall or to delete the content of the folder OEM.

I removed windows 11 and installed windows 10 + all drivers from PCS + CC 3.1.23 from PCS and then updated windows - this worked and it did not crash anymore, but now i cannot undervolt the CPU nor perform memory tunning - the options dissapeared from CC and also from BIOS. If i enter BIOS, the memory tunning tab is not there.. The core voltage offset on CC now gives +volts and not -.

Do you guys have any ideas ? for me this sounds like a hardware issue ... I want to say ive been using windows 11 for 1 month now, and i had no problems.

It sounds like you may have applied a BIOS update through windows update? The BIOS can't lose settings like that without being flashed, unless you reset it to optimised defaults or something?

No BIOS update ... i mean i didnt do any BIOS updates .. and no flash or reset to optimised defaults.
Prior of re-intalling widows i did restore the system using restore point (i had a backup saved from last month), but that didnt help either.
I did 2 clean installs of windows but without any luck :(
At the second windows reinstall, i installed all the drivers from PCS without doing the windows updates and still, the CPU undervolt slider (in CC) and the Memory Tunning in BIOS, where no longer there.

The only BIOS update i did was via PCS to enable video MUX so i can use on the dGPU, but that update was made like almost 1 year ago.
I dont get it what caused it.

The BIOS can be updated through windows update, so unless you were monitoring which optional updates it was applying you may not have realised it got updated.

What BIOS version are you on?

With a Recoil, I lost a lot of CC options as well after doing an RMA (they updated my BIOS then). Interestingly, after using a restore point from before the RMA, the options came back - but uninstalling and installing CC makes me lose them again. Even after a fresh windows install, the options were gone. I asked PCS for the files to downgrade my BIOS, and they gave them to me, but I got an unusual warning when I ran it, so I cancelled the process. Currently waiting for PCS to give me further instructions.

I did not do any optional or quality updates...
The BIOS version and EC is the same since almost 1 year ago:
The BIOS Version is N.1.09A08
The EC Version is 1.18.00.00

The problem started, as i said, while gaming the FPS dropped from 120 to 20 and then the PC rebooted and entered a reboot loop - i could see this using a HDMI cable because the laptop screen was black (as in no power). After this the CC lost the ability to undevolt (the slider/option is missing from CC) and as well memory tunning (is missing from CC and BIOS).

Doing a clean re-install of windows 11 and then 10 did not help. CC is not working on Windows 11 at all - after you install, the laptop goes back in the same loop experienced while gaming.

Best to raise with PCS then, sounds like a windows update has changed some functionality somewhere.

The BIOS can't change without being physically updated, so either it's reverted to defaults somehow, or it's been rewritten, but either of these would have required permissions either through windows update or the BIOS itself.

That's unless you've got a bootloader virus or something.

Hi, did you ever find out what was wrong with your laptop, as something similar happened to mine the other day, screen went blank, would work through a HDMI cable, ended up having to reset the bios in the end and lost all of my memory options etc? Thanks

There was an issue with control center writing back incorrect values to the BIOS which required a BIOS reflash.

Would be worth raising with PCS

hi, same happened to me after RMA! Before I was able to use throttlestop and undervolt features, now it is locked. And I've issues with BIOS too, can u tell me what kind of warning message u got when flashing the BIOS?

hi, same happened to me after RMA! Before I was able to use throttlestop and undervolt features, now it is locked. And I've issues with BIOS too, can u tell me what kind of warning message u got when flashing the BIOS?

When they sent me an old version of the BIOS, this happened:

"Check RomLayout" failed, and I got a message saying that "the ROM file information does not match the system BIOS! If forcedly update BIOS, it may destroy the system BIOS! We strongly do not suggest to flash the BIOS!"

Then they sent me the new one again, and I thought it wasn't going to do anything, but flashing it temporarily solved my issues (lack of Control Center options + audio device not outputting sound) until I had to turn the laptop off. Then it was back to not working again.

A couple of days later, they sent me an OEM fix. These were the instructions they gave me:

- remove Control center, reboot, apply OEM fix (run as admin), reboot, reinstall Control center.

This solved all my issues! Both Control Center and audio.
