Is the stock speed of the 4770k the exact same as an OC i5 4670k?

I just watched one of JayzTwoCents bottlenecking videos. He was saying that a 3.5Ghz on i7 4770K was the equivalent of an OC i5 4670K.

Depending on the use? Yeah probably is. Only programs that can use hyperthreading would benefit from an i7 over an i5 really.

Most games most likely yeah. Not sure about heavily CPU intensive games, I'd guess not so much, flight sims for example will benefit from more threads.

So your a saying that i7 will benefit in gaming?

In certain current games, yes. Like flight sims, as I said. I don't know (for example) whether DayZ benefits from an i7 or not.

I also don't know what is going to happen in the future, I would guess it will start to benefit newer games, but when and by how much I don't know.
