Would like to know whether this spec for a mini PC will meet my needs as well as a standard desktop without compromising my options for future-proofing. As well as all the usual stuff, ie Office, email, browsing it will also be used for digital in photoshop/ lightroom working on RAW/JPEGs so I'll need a lot of memory. Would also like some form of external backup, possibly online.

I'm using my laptop at the moment whilst waiting for new pc. It's an i3 M370 2.4GHz with 4gig of ram.

My main pc usage is photoshop and lightroom with a bit of office thrown in, so very similar to your requirements. The laptop's ok but not stunning.

I'm definitely looking forward to having the i5 quad core which I'm sure will deal with those programs rather better.

I'd personally go for something like the i5 760 if you can afford it. It will give you a little more future proofing* and considerably more response.

*Future proofing is of course an extremely relative term in computing and generally means something will continue to be reasonably current for a year rather than 6 months!
