Probably a waste of money.

Budget? Intended uses?

If gaming, what monitor are you pairing this with?

Also, pre-ordering a graphics card before it has been reviewed is like buying a £~2000 mystery box.

Plus you can preorder 2080 tis from other stores for the same price as a 2080 Strix thanks to Asus markup.

Gaming + Streaming + Recording for youtube. Computer is being financed and allowing myself £110 a month after 1k deposit. I am waiting for reviews of new GPU's before i place order. Plus all that RGB is very much justified.

PC will be hooked up to a 49" 4k HDR Tv and a seperate 32" 4K Monitor for viewing chat and streaming software ETC.

I havent had a new machine in nearly 16 years and now is the time.

For streaming, a different CPU might be preferable. e.g. an AMD R7 2700x, thanks to its extra cores. Alternatively, AMD are expected to launch their 8-core, 16-thread consumer 9000 series CPUs in October. Which considering that's only a few weeks after the 2000 series GPUs are on sale would seem worth waiting for.

A single 2080 ti would likely be a lot better match for 4k gaming than a pair of GPUs, since not all titles support multip GPU setups well or equally, and it would also be cheaper.

I suggest posting back with the budget (we don't know what £110pm equates to) when the GPU reviews are out and ideally once the 9000 series CPUs are out in October. No sense waiting 16 years to buy a PC that could underperform for your uses and will be obsolete a couple of weeks after it lands on your doorstep :)

Ah ok gotcha. budget is 5k so roughly 110pm over next 4 years. Last time i used amd was an athlon 2600 back in 2002 it lasted 4 months before it went bang. No disrespect to AMD i know Ryzen looks amazing but I will always be an intel guy. i agree sticking to 1 GPU might be best at the moment considering that fact about not all games supporting multi GPU set up. I was looking at intels new i9 9900k chip. Was looking at ordering in october anyway so that cpu will probably change anyway.
