Using the great guide provided here:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/world-of-warcraft-cataclysm-directx-11-performance,2793.html

I ordered my new PC. It's SLI ready. The price was around 1k. With better budget I'd add second graphic card and Solid HD.

COOLERMASTER ELITE 310 BLUE CASE
Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-950 (3.06GHz) 4.8GTs/8MB Cache
ASUS® P6X58D-E: DDR3, USB 3.0, SATA 6.0GB/s, 3-Way SLI
6GB KINGSTON HYPER-X TRI-DDR3 1600MHz, X.M.P (3 x 2GB KIT)
1280MB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX470 - 2 DVI,mHDMI - DX® 11, 3D (Special Offer!)
1TB WD CAVIAR BLACK WD1002FAEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm)
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
600W Quiet 80 PLUS Quad Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan

Genuine Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit - inc DVD & Licence

Can't wait :)

Do you mean 6 core processors? I'm buying this almost exclusively for World of Warcraft where the processor frequency and number of cores (above 2) is not that significant. 2 cores are enough to unleash the graphic card potential so I went for not the most expensive option.

The i7-950 is a great processor, and the 1366 architecture lets you take advantage of triple channel memory. Whilst we haven't yet benchmarked ther i7-950 against the 2600 (no overclocking), it would be interesting to see which one would win and by how much...

welcome to the world of sandy bridge sir. Now go look at the 2600k at 5.0 ghz :D

It will rival the 980x in most cases :D

upgrade o'clock ?

I think not, I only got it in July/August, I'm not rich enough that I can upgrade every few months :)

Anyways, back on topic, sort of, vandisc make sure you go for the Silver warranty at least its well worth it for a fiver.

There's no real point upgrading from a 1336 platform yet, may as well wait for Ivy Bridge and Komodo.

I can think of a few reasons.

Bang for buck...
Awesome on board graphics...
on Dye Hardware de/encoding...
Future proof socket ( Ivy Bridge )
Greater overclock capability ( On the K series )

the list goes on :p

1. That's not a valid reason for someone who already has an excellent CPU unless it's currently underperforming which I'm guessing isn't the case.
2. Irrelevant for gaming as it's still no where near a good discrete graphics card and overclocking the i7-930 is a much more cost effective way of gaining more performance while video editing or w.e.
3. Has Intel actually stated this anywhere? I'd imagine that they'd bring a new socket out for Ivy bridge like they've done before.
4. Unless getting more points in synthetic benchmarks or folding at home is something that you're really exited about overclocking an i7-930 will suffice for pretty much any task.

It's just not necessary to upgrade from 1336 yet.

ahh, should have gone for gen 2 chips :)
Also, GTX460 or GTX 5xx series. Say no to 470 and 480 in my opinion.

this is my opinion

Just wonderign why you have 2 different graphics cards in your system?

Is this a copy/paste error or did you actually order those?
