Keyboard Backlight Application

I have a custom laptop with the following specs:
Windows 10 64-bit
Intel Core i7-8750H
CPU @ 2.20GHz
16GB RAM
Intel UHD Graphics 630

When I first bought the laptop 9 months ago I attempted to launch the 'Keyboard Backlight Application' software using the shortcut Fn + Esc and the software would initially launch and then crash. 1 month ago I had to reinstall windows following instruction from someone from pcspecialist which worked except the Keyboard Backlight Application software no longer launched from the Fn + Esc shortcut. Will I have to reinstall the software somehow or is it hidden in the windows 10 files?

Yes, you'll have to install it.

What's the model of the laptop? All your drivers should be in the download section of your main PCS account.

Ok thank you. The software is installed but the backlight doesn't react to any changes made. It stays at a constant mid-brightness blue during the whole duration that the computer is turned on. The fan speed etc can be controlled using the software so it is installed correctly.

I was on the latest version of windows for August 2018 I believe when I got the laptop. This is the current version I'm on

So that's version 1809 which is outdated, best to update windows.

But I'd also query if you downloaded the right version of Control Center.

As for if I'm using the latest software. The drivers available are dated from 2017 but seem to be the latest ones available from the website with no update available from inside the software. The downloads page doesn't have my specific model (N871EP) and the closest match was the driver for N870HJ1/HK1 which gave the results above.

Let’s have a look, that may be the wrong version, theres definitely a section for that specific model...

Hmmm... I see what you mean, that's odd.

I would have a chat with the person who bought you the laptop, they should have a PCS account which will have all your drivers available.

Failing that, have a chat with PCS and ask them which section your laptop comes under in the Clevo downloads.

It is odd that your specific model is not there, but I think the closest match to yours is this one: N850EP6 / N857EP6 / N860EP6 / N870EP6 / N875EP6. I would uninstall the version of Control Center you have, reboot, and then try this one...

So installing the drivers gave me a blue screen and I’ve basically given up trying to fix it but since it’s a new problem I’ll start a new thread
