Laptop boots but screen will not turn on

Hi, my computer from pcspecialist is now almost three years old, without prior issue and when I turned it on today the screen would not turn on. It's booting fine as i can hear windows is loading, and i can hear myself logging in when i enter my password but from the moment I press the power button the screen is completely blank.

Hello and welcome, best to call our tech guys for this one on 0844 499 4000.

Plugging in a normal monitor to any availiable display ports such as VGA, common on most laptops may give an indication if the screen or GPU is at fault. If its just the screen you should get display to the monitor.

Sounds like the backlight on the laptop has failed, but as Gorman said connecting an external monitor will confirm this. You will most likely need to purchase a new screen I'm afraid.

I tried to call the helpdesk and was on hold for more than half an hour without reply, (very unhappy about the level of consumer service there!). I have tried attaching my external monitor but it is not receiving an input.
