Laptop Errors

I routinely reset my laptop back to factory settings every few months to remove the crap built up on it. In my most recent restore, when the laptop turns on there is about 5-7 seconds of loud beeping. Then once starting to use the laptop it crashes and shows a blue error screen. (I'll attach it)

Can anyone provide a fix for me? If you need any info just ask.

The beeps are probably POST (Power On Self Test) errors. Can you note down what sort of beeps (three long, one short, for example) because they are there to point you to the failure. The BSOD could also be a hardware failure, most likely RAM, but it could also be software (possibly driver) related too.

As well as the factory restore have you also opened up the laptop to clean inside? If you have I'd suggest you ensure that your RAM card(s) are properly seated. Pop them out and reseat them to be sure.

If all you did was the factory restore was this using the provided installation DVD or via a recovery partition? Or did you just do a clean reinstall of Windows from the Microsoft Windows install disk? It's quite important that we know how you did the factory restore.

If it were mine I'd be tempted to run the factory restore again to be sure that you didn't get any errors during the process.

Is that the HP Pavillion dv6 model? I owned a laptop that is the same (or similar looking) make prior to purchasing one from PCSpecialist.

I'd see if it's possible to re-do the factory restore process by booting from the CD. It worked for me when I had issues with the factory restore.
