I would go for a faster SSD instead of your 500GB SERIAL ATA II 2.5" HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (5,400rpm) choice. Especially for music recording.

I use Reason and Cubase and they worked on my old system so the above system you have will work for sure (also mate is DJ and uses a Sony Vaio lol but it works fine with Ableton), BUT as soon as I changed to an SSD I get far better performance. They all load instantaneously and I can open far more devices/mixers etc etc at same time.

Most of the mixing software etc is on my media pc [which has a 80gb SSD] , this laptop will mainly run Virtual DJ and record mixes direct from the turntables.
