laptop won't go to standby

Hello, my laptop won't go into standby mode when I close the lid or press the power button. It used to work and sometimes it still does but the usual thing now is that it just turns off the screen but everything keeps running, so it will turn really hot when I put it into the sleeve and it drains the battery pretty fast. All the settings seem to be what they should. Any advice about what it could be or how to diagnose the issue?

Where did you source your Windows OS from?

Are there any outstanding windows updates at all - can you provide a screen shot of your Windows update page.

Can you also supply a screen shot of your power management settings. In particular the settings for "what to do when closing the lid"

The laptop actually came with a Windows preinstalled (although I ordered one with an empty disk).

I don't really follow the updates and version history of Windows but I have updates activated and as I see there are no updates my system has been missing.

Can we see the full Windows update page please.

My guess is that its not updating as its not a registered version of windows.

You need to clean install - apply your own purchased licence and then update all.

We cant help you if you are using the test version.
