Lightweight carry anyware machine for Linux

[PAF]

Hi all. I'm aiming for a light portable work machine that will slip into my briefcase without trouble, and plan to run Linux on it (most likely an Ubuntu derivative, but I'm also considering Antergos). I'm pretty confident this will meet my needs, but would welcome comments from anyone who's installed Linux on a similar box. Thanks.

You didn't mention budget or a minimum screen size, so these may not be viable suggestions, but in case of interest:

If looking for a cheap SSD, the Adata SX6000 under the M.2 SSD Menu is £16 more but way, way faster, while still being cheaper than most of the Sata SSDs and all the NVMe ones.

I can't speak as to Linux on this from person experience, but in general terms going by comments in the forums Linux seems pretty happy on laptops from PCS, presumably as all the components are ultimately quite mainstream and even new hardware like Intel's 8th Gen CPUs aren't all that different from the 7th, or the 6th..

Agree with Oussebon. I have run Linux, various distros on four PCS laptops and had no real problems, the worst getting Nvidia drivers to work on my Optimus but that was an issues with one particular GPU. You may get the odd quirky bit you have to sort but should not be anything major, my latest with eighth generation CPU worked out of the box with Debian, although went with the non-free version as did not want to fiddle about adding firmware.
