Linux on Fusion 14? (with RTX3050)

I'm trying to boot Mint 21.2-xfce from USB on a new Fusion 14 (specs below)
I'd already tested the USB drive on an older PC Specialist notebook and it booted fine. But I am getting a hang with just this on screen:

pci 0000:00:07.0: DPC: RP PIO log size 0 is invalid

I followed the advice in https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=209943#c28 (the consensus seems to be that this message is minor, and not what is causing the failed boot). Without "quiet" the last messages before it hangs are:

VGA switcheroo: detected Optimus DSM method \_SB_.PC00.PEG1.PEGP handle
nouveau: detected PR support, will not use DSM
nouveau: 0000:01:00.0 enabling device (0000 -> 0003)

It has been sat there at this point for 5+ minutes.

I will keep trying, and will follow up if I get it to boot, but if anyone knows the trick, or know it is doomed, or has a distro version that is known to work, please let me know.

Spec: i7-13700H, 16GB 4800Mhz, RTX 3050-6GB, 1TB m.2 SSD.

Starting in compatibility mode: booted! But no touchpad.
So tried a reboot, "e" in the GRUB menu, removed "quiet" and added "nomodeset xforcevesa" (following https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=122257)

This worked, and I have touchpad. The screen is 800x600.
I don't have WiFi, so can't get as far as testing installing the nvidia driver.
Not found anything to turn on wifi yet. Under "lspci" I see:
Network controller: Intel Corporation Device 51f1 (rev 01

I found some mention of it here https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=286305

`dmesg | grep iwl` and `lsmod | grep wifi` and `lsmod | grep iwh` bring up nothing at all.
`rfkill` tells me bluetooth hci0 unblocked (for SOFT and HARD); no mention of wlan.

The kernel the USB boot disk is running is 5.15.0-76-generic #83-Ubuntu SMP.

P.S. "Solving freezes during the boot sequence" on
https://linuxmint.com/rel_victoria_xfce.php has some other suggestions. I might try a couple of them, to see if they allow wifi to work.

Summary:
"nomodeset" and "nomodeset xforcevesa" both boot. Touchpad works. No wifi.
Recovery mode boots, no touchpad, no wifi.
"nouveau.noaccel=1" instead of "nomodeset": fails to boot
"noapic noacpi nosplash irqpoll" instead of "quiet splash": fails to boot

Hello,

If you want I have the same laptop and I've found and made some utilities to make it work better (especially you can turn the DGPU to up to 60W)

Thanks se-en: which distro did you install, and did you have any problems? Which kernel? Does your machine have the same "INTEL® Wi-Fi 6E AX211 (2.4 Gbps) + BT 5.3" network card?

I went to try an ethernet test last night... and at that point realised there is no socket on these 14" machines! So getting a live USB which will recognize that WiFi card is going to be essential.

Sorry for your eyes it's in French x)

I use a custom Ublue image. : https://github.com/MiMillieuh/Ublue-MiMiOS/

Here is the website : https://universal-blue.org/

If you want to build your own it's really easy but it's an immutable desktop. it's based on Fedora. but I also made a package for acpi_call on Fedora with DKMS that you can get in the guide I've made.

For the Wifi and bluetooth it works out of the box without more configurations and for ethernet I use USB-C ethernet.

and my kernel is the default on Ublue so the same that's on Fedora :

Linux fedora 6.4.11-200.fc38.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Wed Aug 16 17:42:12 UTC 2023 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The issue you might get with USB-C are : vidéo output getting choppy (at least in gnome) if you don't have a secondary screen that can make 90hz and if you're charging through USB-C the Nvidia GPU thinks that you're on battery and won't use all its power.

By the way if you want to read my opinion on this laptop you can check it in the french forum : 14 " Fustion : Avis (use google translate :) )
