Hi can anyone help by pointing out any issues with the following spec

Intel® CoreTMi5 Quad Core Processor i5-4440 (3.1GHz) 6MB Cache

ASUS® Z87-A: ATX, USB2.0, USB3.0, SATA6GB/S, SLi, XFIRE

16GB KINGSTON DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (2 x 8GB)

1GB NVIDIA GEFORCE 210 - DVI, HDMI, VGA

500GB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 16MB CACHE

24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM

Creative Sound Blaster Z 5.1 PCI-E Soundcard - OEM

10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT

Genuine Windows 8.1 64 Bit - inc DVD & Licence (Any UEFI Problem on dual boot. I plan on installing Linux on separate 500 gb Drive which I have at home.

IIYAMA E2773HS-GB1 27" LED WIDESCREEN, 2 HDMI/DVI-D 1920x1080

I would appreciate any suggestions or advise.

Are you talking about an external USB drive? I don't remember the full details, but I do remember someone having great difficulty dual booting from a USB drive. You might want to experiment on an existing macine first. If you are on a separate drive, it might be wise not to use grub dual booting, but to use the boot menu accessed during the UEFI boot sequence. Most ASUS boards have provision for trying secure boot first of all and if that won't work, switching to legacy boot. I think they all alow you to turn off secure boot.

Thanks for the reply, I will install Linux on a separate internal SATA drive. I think UEFI can be disabled, but mist distress seem to be overdoing it. Thanks for taking the time to explain - Steve
