Long Pre Production Amendment Blues ;)

Morning all,

The lengthy pre-production on my build has got me researching and the temptation to tweak is becoming irresistable ;) I've had fantastic advice from the folks here and I'm really grateful for it.

With that in mind, I saw this morning that the AMD 3300X is now back in stock. So I could switch to that CPU from the 3600X and use the money saved to go from a 1660 Super up to a 2060.

Is that worth doing? It seems that low end 1440p would be in reach then, but bearing in mind that the monitor I'm getting is 1080p 144hz and I'm not going to be playing Fortnite or any other games that need sky high fps am I wasting my money there? Also, if I went to 3300X/2060 would I need to look at extra cooling?

I do want the computer to be a reasonable light workhorse (microsoft office, very light video editing/basic photoshop) as well as a budget end gaming system. It feels like the 3600X/1660 Super combo fits the bill for that.

What do the experts think? I don't really want to be adding much more to my budget at the mo.

Here's my spec

We love you Ukraine
The RTX2060 is no particular improvement over the 1660 Super, you’d need to step up to a 2060 Super, and then a monitor to pair with it which would be £270 for a very budget one. Each step up in performance results in more expensive screens.

Thanks Spyder, I'm hoping to have this machine for the next 5 years at least, so I want to get it right.

(maybe a cheeky GPU/monitor upgrade in a few years if I fancy going up to 1440p - but I suspect that I probably won't need that)
