Hello gents.
I'm looking for a portable gaming PC. I'd be moving it between various RAF bases & a home address via car so portability is a priority. I've looked at gaming laptops & as nice as they are, their expense doesn't justify the cost when comparing specs. & my current Lenovo Z580 will handle all my older games on max while any newer ones I can just turn the graphics down on for when I'm where I can't take even a mini PC. I'd be mostly using it for flight sim & RTS games. I might play some FPS games like Crysis Warhead on it but I'll mostly use my PS4 for that.
I'd like to think I know enough about PCs (more about laptop specs) to get by but not about the parts. I've never built my own before or anything like that.
My budget is about a £1000 although I might be able to stretch it. What I'd like is below but bear in mind I'm not an expert whose after maximum portability (IE easy to carry & preferably has some durability), upgradability (is that a word?) so that I can upgrade the video card, ram, hard drive, optical drive (if a Blu-ray drive isn't possible for the price now) etc later.
I7 Processor
16GB Ram
1TB HDD, minimum 7200RPM but 10,000 preferred
Some kind of SSD, or at least room for it in the future.
A good video card but doesn't have to be state of the art as long as I can upgrade it.
Blu ray drive
USB 3.0 Ports
Wifi capable
Can anybody post some recommendations, problems I may encounter, things to be aware of etc?
Thanks in advance!
