Hi all.
Thanks for looking at this and I hope you guys can offer some good advice on some options to create a top end gaming laptop. I have a desktop already but with me being around various locations other than home I am looking to invest significantly into a solid gaming machine. I would be looking to try to make it as future proof as possible(though I know that is near impossible these days but still ) My gaming list includes things like BF3, MW3, Crysis2, Old republic, GW2(when its released) plus many more. I would possibly be doing some video rendering too should i be away from home for long periods of time. I have been looking at two options so far but have quirries about certain things, so I will list both specs I have created so far(only listed the core parts of the laptop):
Build 1:
17.3 Vortex 2 17
Vortex 2 Glossy Full HD LED Widescreen
Intel Core i7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-2860QM(2.5GHz) 8MB
8GB Kingston Hyper-X Genesis 1600Mhz SODIMM DDR3
2.0 nvidia GEforce GTX 580M DirectX 11
500GB WD Scorpio Black Sata 3GB/s 16MB Cache
Artic MX4 Extreme Thermal Con Compound
Creative Sound Blaster X-FI Surround 5.1 PRO
Gigabit Lan & Wireless Intel Advanced-N 6230 3Mbps + Bluetooth
Build 2
18.4 Viper 3
Viper 3 18.4 Glossy Full HD LED Widescreen
Intel Core i7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-2860QM(2.5GHz) 8MB
8GB Kingston Hyper-X Genesis 1600Mhz SODIMM DDR3
2 x 1.5GB nvidia GeForce GTX 560M - Direct X 11 (SLI)
500GB WD Scorpio Black Sata 3GB/s 16MB Cache
Artic MX4 Extreme Thermal Con Compound
Creative Sound Blaster X-FI Surround 5.1 PRO
Gigabit Lan & Wireless Intel Advanced-N 6230 3Mbps + Bluetooth
Both are about the simular price tag and there are some thing I can change as I am unsure about them these include:
Processor: Is there much noticable difference between the Intel Core i7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-2860QM(2.5GHz) 8MB and the Intel Core i7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-2760QM(2.4GHz) 6MB that it would signifficantly change my gaming experience?
Ram: Again I am unsure of the difference between the 8GB Kingston Hyper-X Genesis 1600Mhz SODIMM DDR3 and the 16GB Samsung 1333 SODIMM DDR3 Memory? The Kingston may be half the amount but runs much faster than the samsung, is this correct?
Graphics: I have seen the benchmark results from this and common sense tells me a SLI setup should be much better but again I am unsure and would like a little guidence, the 580M is a fast card with great performance but would the extra gig of GRAM really be superior, as experience tells me that its not always the higher amount is best, though i am no expert hence why I am here
As for the amount of storage, this is not too important and I am thinking that I may save a few bob by going for a smaller HD, I would of liked a SSD as they are so fast but this would definately make it cost too much.
I hope this hasnt been too long winded and I am looking forward to your replies and advice, I will be ordering something one way or the other before the xmas deadline
Regards
Madie
