looking to buy a gameing laptop

Hi,

I am thinking of buying a gaming laptop that would last for at least three years (as in able to play high end games on low setting at a relatively smooth rate) after Christmas.

Since I travel quite a bit now and then, I am looking for something with 15.6" inch monitor and a US keyboard(used to the ~ and button locations). It would mainly be used for gaming, writing, and web browsing. The sort of games playing would be quite demanding games like The Witcher series, Skyrim with HD mods sort of things. Looking at a Max Budget of £1450, since I am going to keep it for 3+ years if nothing goes wrong (finger crossed).

Bright Spark
the defiance will run your games in ultra/high for around 2 years easy :D
if what you want is something less powerful but that still can run new games in lower settings you should look the optimus with gtx 860m
also, it's important to note that the defiance has cpu & gpu soldered

Would it be worth to go extra for the i7-4810MQ (2.80GHz)?

that configuration should be fine, except for a few points:
-16GB of ram is completely overkill for what you this, go for 8GB
-stick with the 4710mq, for the kind of use you will give to this the 4810mq is overkill (and more expensive)
-instead of such a huge amount of SSD, i would go with an OS/aplications/games SSD, meaning no more than 256GB and a HDD, but this is opinion, maybe you need the SSD
-upgrade a bit the wifi card, i would say whichever you want

besides all the previous, i think it's fine

install important stuff on the 120gb ssd (windows etc..) and I think this will be pretty good and a lot cheaper.
