I've recently built a new PC for home production (with help from some members on these forums) and I'm looking to get a new laptop too. I want it for 2 purposes mainly. First, I DJ and play out live. I use Serato DJ Pro software, along with the Phase controllers. So I'd want a system that would handle that comfortably. I don't think Serato is majorly CPU intensive and have heard that an i5 system with 8GB RAM will suffice. But, I will probably want to use it, in the Summer, to make beats on the go with. At home, I use Ableton, plugins, hardware etc, but the laptop would only be used with Reason and an MPD plugged in. I'd want sufficient space to store samples/drum kits etc. I'd want something that would handle them both. My budget would be about £1000. Maybe a couple of hundred more if need be.
