I don't quite know how but it is cheaper than yours and a lot more powerful. I didn't put an os on it though as you seem to be pretty set on ubuntu.

if you are ever going to consider getting another 4GB of RAM, then get the 1x4GB setup

you could also drop to an i3, not much difference in speed

Tom what version was you using?
And was was it all round performance or on specific tasks?

Thanks btw

All round performance.

Ubuntu 11.10 32-bit (desktop edition, I find the netbook edition too minimalistic). Even so I would of expected more to be honest, the mirage is somewhere between netbook and fully fledged laptop.

Might improve if you tweak it, I just tested it quickly from an out of the box installation for 30 mins.

Also you mentioned a battery test, I don't know how busy PCS are atm, either way you can never have too many benchies so as it's fully charged right now happy to run a battery test for you? Just let me know if you want idle, full load (or both :p).

It's still very new I've only run it down fully twice.

Thanks Tom :)

I would be using desktop edition :p

If you could do a full load test that would be fantastic I would really appreciate it.

Once again thanks Tom

I will do if I get the time, never know I spose. It wasn't just a little bit slower though, it was miles slower and decided to randomly lock up at times too. Unity bar was horribly unresponsive. Might just be a hardware compatibility issue with AMDs APU chips cause graphics performance was poor as well e.g. Windows 7 streams HD iplayer and 720p youtube no problem wheras Ubuntu struggled. Plugin possibly?

7 runs like a dream in comparison so I think it justifies the cost.

i acutally think you may have the same problem i had, im guessing you installed via a memory stick/CD? try it on a memory stick if you did it with a disc before, my disc ended up being faulty and it was incredibly slow when installed, done it from a memory stick and works great

Intel 2.1GHz Dual Core
3GB RAM
Integrated gfx

@Wozza

Used a USB but if I try another install I'll bear that in mind. :)

@amosela

Windows 7 x64 - specs in sig - 100% charge set to balanced power mode. All other programs closed. WiFi On.

Prime95 using blend mode: CPU @ 100% stress and high RAM usage.

Netbook surrendered to torture after 1hr 42 minutes.

Would expect an improvement with a lower speed HDD or dedicated SSD.

Should give you a rough idea as to how it fares regardless of OS.

We have built a spec to test the battery. Would you like an idle test?
