Monitor with good colour/contrast/viewing angle?

Can anyone recommend a monitor that produces a nice image in terms of colour and contrast? My current monitor (a Samsung) is either too dark or the colours are washed out, depending on settings.

The other important thing is a relative insensitivity to viewing angle. With my current monitor a slight change in head position radically alters the appearance of the pixels.

In terms of refresh rate and resolution, I don't require more than 60Hz / 1080p. Also, not bothered about built in speakers. Having multiple HDMIs would be nice, but not essential.

What’s it for?

What’s your max budget?

You’re talking about an IPS panel which is the most expensive panel type to meet those requirements.

Mostly gaming. Max budget would be £200. In terms of viewing angle, I don't need it to look good at some acute angle, just want it so that shifting my head position slightly doesn't alter the appearance (like my current monitor). I figured keeping with 60Hz and 1080p would keep cost down somewhat? My current monitor, I get it calibrated nicely with my head in a certain position, but if I lean back everything is too dark and if I sit up straight colours are washed out.

And what GPU are you pairing it with? Can you post your full specs from the order page?

60hz monitor will just bottleneck your system, would be a waste, and 60hz is a really poor experience in PC gaming anyway.

You really don’t want to cheap out on the monitor, especially at 1080p when they’re relatively affordable. The monitor is the final output of the pc, you could have the best pc on the planet, if the monitor is rubbish, the experience will be equally rubbish.

That being said, this AOC ticks all the boxes, 144hz IPS with freesync and has consistently got stellar reviews, and £10 under budget, it’s a steal for the price:
