Multi-use PC Spec-Check, Advice Appreciated!

Hi

I am looking at buying a PC that i'll use for multiple purposes, and im also looking to futureproof as much as possible - so i've erred towards high-spec (where i probably dont need all of it). Im hoping people can advise where i may be overspending as im not too clued up when it comes to hardware!

The primary use will be a daily use office desktop - im a freelance analyst so some pretty big databases are regular feature of my work, hence the big monitor for convenience, but not much heavy lifting for the CPU etc.
The secondary uses are music production and gaming, which is why i've gone top spec. i almost always thread reason or FL through ableton, which is too much for my current setup (6GB ram 2.8GHz i7 laptop). i have an external soundcard but im keen to get a decent spec to power the software without stuttering (and will continue to do so for a few years yet). My gaming use will be fairly limited, a mid-level user at most. i picked a good CPU and RAM (maybe too much) and an SSD, but im clueless when it comes to motherboards.

I've pasted the whole spec is below and any wisdom people have to offer will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Tom

Case COOLERMASTER SILENCIO 650 QUIET MID TOWER CASE Suitable for your needs
Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-4770k (3.5GHz) 8MB Cache Do you plan to overclock at all? if not then drop to the non 'k' variant of the 4770, the extra 0.1Ghz wont be noticeable
Motherboard ASUS® Z87 WS - ATX, USB 3.0, SATA 6 GB/s The motherboard mostly depends on how much expansion you think you will need in the future, most people don't need much so a basic one is fine I would head over to this configurator http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers/intel-haswell-pc/ and use Z87-K
Memory (RAM) 32GB KINGSTON HYPERX BEAST DUAL-DDR3 2400MHz X.M.P (4 x 8GB KIT) Way too much and way too fast, no point paying for that, get an absolute maximum of 16GB of the 1600Mhz stuff
Graphics Card 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 760 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready Will serve you well for gaming, a nice fast card at a reasonable price.
2nd Graphics Card NONE
3rd Graphics Card NONE
Memory - 1st Hard Disk 480GB KINGSTON HYPERX 3K SSD, SATA 6 Gb/s (upto 540MB/sR | 450MB/sW)Is this for your music production work, if so I can kind of see the point but it is hellova expensive
2nd Hard Disk 1TB WD CAVIAR BLACK WD1002FAEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm) Good choice for the 2nd drive
RAID NONE
1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive 24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
2nd DVD/BLU-RAY Drive NONE
Memory Card Reader NONE
Power Supply CORSAIR 650W ENTHUSIAST SERIES™ TX650 V2-80 PLUS® BRONZE
Processor Cooling INTEL STANDARD CPU COOLER Get the triple copper heatpipe cooler, quieter and will keep the CPU cooler than the standard
Extra Case Fans NONE
Fan Controller NONE
Sound Card ONBOARD 8 CHANNEL (7.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Network Facilities WIRELESS 802.11N 150Mbps PCI-E CARD (Special Offer)
USB Options MIN. 2 x USB 3.0 & 4 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL + MIN. 2 FRONT PORTS
Power Cable 1 x 2 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead)
Operating System Genuine Windows 8 64 Bit - inc DVD & Licence
Office Software Microsoft® Office Home & Business 2013 (1 License & Disc)
Anti-Virus NORTON 360 SUITE - 1 Year Licence for upto 3 PCs *SPECIAL*
Monitor IIYAMA E2773HS-GB1 27
DVI-D & HDMI Monitor Cables 1 x 2 METRE GOLD PLATED V1.4 HDMI CABLE
Eyefinity / GeForce 3D Vision NONE
Keyboard & Mouse Microsoft Arc Keyboard - Style That Works
Mouse Microsoft Sculpt Touch Bluetooth Wireless Mouse
Gaming Mouse Pad SteelSeries QcK Mini Gaming Mouse Pad

So the above is my general advice on the spec, but you say your 6Gb and i7 laptop struggles with your music production? Do you know what exactly is bottlenecking? It could end up being the HDD if your playing loads of sample from it or something it could be running out of bandwidth? Otherwise I struggle to seen an i7 struggling unless it is a 1st generation one or something and I guess it could be RAM. if you can pin the bottleneck down we can advise further.

Apart from that I don't see how you can reasonable get much more performance into that PC for non gaming tasks anyway!

thanks for the reply Mantadog really useful to speak to someone more clued up than me! I've taken on board your advice and will tone down the spec slightly in terms of CPU, RAM and probably a smaller SSD to get a great piece of kit and save myself a few £££...
